Griquas followed up last week's win over Currie Cup holders the Golden Lions with a gritty 22-15 victory over The Sharks in Kimberley on Saturday.

Full of confidence after that win in Johannesburg, the hosts deserved their success in a result that moves them off the bottom of the standings.

Griquas led 16-9 at half time after flanker Marnus Schoeman scored a try and playmaker Francois Brummer kicked a conversion and three penalties for the hosts. Sharks inside centre Meyer Bosman kicked three penalties for the side from Durban.

Bosman, for the third consecutive weekend, succeeded with all of his attempted kicks.

The Sharks came out for the second half strongly and were rewarded for their efforts when Bosman kicked his fourth penalty of the fixture following an offence from Schoeman at the breakdown.

Opposing kickers Bosman and Brummer then traded shots to make it 19-15 at GWK Park in Kimberley.

It was all set up for a grandstand finish and when Sharks full-back Louis Ludik thought he had scored but to be called back for an obstruction, it looked like being the Griquas' day.

So it proved as Brummer kicked another shot to make it 22-15, which was how it stayed.

SACanuck says...

It amazes me that the Sharks have been losing to this team for 30 years. Thought they would have worked them out by now.
