Treviso: Jump into top six with win

Treviso moved into the top six of the RaboDirect Pro12 courtesy of a 20-10 victory over struggling Scarlets at Stadio di Monigo.

Tries either side at half-time from Ludovico Nitoglia and Brendan Williams helped the Italians to a well-earned win.

Treviso headed into the match on the back of their first victory of the season against Glasgow, while Scarlets were looking to bounce back from the previous week's defeat to Leinster.

It was a tight first half and it took 28 minutes for the first points of the match to be scored, and 39 minutes until we saw the first try.

A Dan Newton penalty put the Welsh outfit in front just before the half-hour mark and it looked as though they'd take their slender advantage with them into the interval.

But Treviso hit back with ten points in the final five minutes of the first period. First, on 36 minutes, Chris Burton levelled things up with the boot and then minutes later Ludovico Nitoglia got the game's first try.

Burton added the conversion and the Italians led 10-3 at the interval.

Scarlets struck back in early in the second half through a Liam Williams try.

Newton levelled the scores with the conversion but Treviso were back in front within ten minutes.

On 50 minutes Burton kicked his second penalty of the afternoon and then on 55 minutes Brendan Williams crossed for a crucial try.

Burton's conversion gave the home side a 10-point advantage and they defended their lead for the remaining 25 minutes.

The victory lifts Treviso to sixth in the table while Scarlets drop to tenth.
