Yachvili cited for stamping

Facing a ban: Dimitri Yachvili

Biarritz scrum-half Dimitri Yachvili has been cited for repeatedly stamping on Racing Métro centre Henry Chavancy last Saturday.

The French international was shown a yellow card for his actions in the dying minutes of the 23-11 defeat to Racing at the Parc des Sports d'Aguilera but is likely to be slapped with a lengthy ban.

Video evidence shows that Yachvili clearly has a very serious case against him (have a look at 1:50:45 here.) but in yet another example of the Top 14's incomprehensible disciplinary processes, the veteran of 61 Tests will only appear at a hearing on March 13, nearly three weeks after the incident.

As a result, the 32-year-old will be available for Friday's Basque derby against Bayonne and the trip to league leaders Toulon a week later.

Meanwhile, Toulon backs coach Pierre Mignoni will appear before a disciplinary commission on the same day to answer for his behaviour on the sidelines during Toulon's loss to Castres last Friday.

Not the best footage. Looks more prelonged though less forceful than Healy's stamp.

Agree. Yachvili deserves the maximum sentence for that. And I don't mean death by tray although that would be quite hilarious.

I don't think it's bad as Healys. A prop stamping hard vs a 9 and is shin shin ankle. No way rucking but the stamp is not nearly so forceful. And he got a card. Given Healys treatment 3 weeks for this. Ignoring Healys ridiculously light treatment I'd say this was 6-8 weeks

@BradS

Depuy pulled the scrum cap off and stuck his fingers into the player's eye, checked if the referee was looking, and then put his fingers into the player's eye again. He shouldn't be allowed to play rugby.

This is bad, but not close to that.

It's more vindictive and malicious than Cian Healy's stamp. The irish prop's temper boiled over for a second. Yachvili is looking to cause actual bodily harm. I hate to bring up Callum Clarke who's paid his dues and behaved well since returning from his ban but this stamp is more in line with that Leicester vs Northampton Incident.

In doing that, Yachvili was basically asking for a long ban - it's so obvious and indisputable. Does he not want to play?

Reminds me of Julien Dupuy's eye gouge... I think he may have been banned for the remainder of that particular season.
