Living legend: Guy Novès
Friday's Top 14 clash against Perpignan will see Toulouse manager Guy Novès be involved in his 1000th game for the French champions.
In what will be a significant milestone in any sport, the iconic coach will oversee his 741st game as a member of the Toulouse staff having played 259 games for the club between 1975 and 1988, winning two French championships in 1985 and 1986.
The former international wing, who won seven caps for France, has been with the same club his entire career.
The 59-year-old is the most decorated coach in Europe having won 10 French titles and four European Cups with les Rouge et Noir.
In 2011, Novès was offered the French national job but turned it down, saying he was only prepared to work with people he trusted which meant depriving Toulouse of their coaching staff, a move he was unwilling to make.

@Bones7 - I still dont understand the leap from a coach with the pedigree of Noves, to PSA who has at best a chequered coaching pedigree.

A lateral thinker's candidate for Lions coach, along with Joe Schmidt and Vern Cotter.
Shame Michael Cheika is coaching the NSW Waratah's and so is on the other side!
But anyway, if the lions commitee are thinking of sacking Gatland (hint, hint), then I hope I've helped throw some names into the hat. :)

It great to see a career that has spanned all of those years - from the amateur era to the modern day professional era..... spanning 38 years.....it represents loyalty to the Club and loyalty from the Club to the individual......
Absolutely outstanding!

Yeah well rumour has it he's being romanced by Sale.. It's really just a dare to see if Steve Diamond can keep his nose out the coach's business or will he just get straight in and break another coaching talent! Lol Morale of the story: ya wanna be the coach, then be it! Don't take on another role and think you're it!!

Spartacus, that is exactly the case. The FFR even admitted they asked him before PSA and he'd turned them down!
