New deal: Will Genia

Wallabies scrum-half Will Genia has ended protracted negotiations with Australia's Rugby Union by putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal.

The 24-year-old Genia, who has played 40 tests for the Wallabies, committed to a three-year deal with the Queensland Reds in April and has since been negotiating with the ARU to confirm the deal.

Under the ARU contracting system, players negotiate with the national body after agreeing to terms with their Super Rugby franchise.

Genia underwent surgery in September after injuring his knee against South Africa in Perth and is expected to be sidelined until March.

"I'm certainly happy that everything is now locked away ... my focus now is on getting the knee right, getting fit and getting back on the field," he said.

Good news. The foundation stone for the next world cup has been laid. I noticed that suddenly last year W. Genia had become very slow with his deliveries. The injuries have to be managed properly, otherwise all will be ruined and R. Deans is unfortunately not good at all in player-management. He can't even produce results so what's the use to keep him. E. McKenzie is the best person from next year.
