Aaron Smith: Commits to Turbos

All Blacks scrum-half Aaron Smith has given Manawatu plenty to smile about after re-signing with the Turbos for a further two years.

New Zealand's top number nine will play his ITM Cup rugby for the Turbos until the end of 2014.

This is a significant signing for the side and complements the inclusion of their other All Black, Aaron Cruden, who is contracted with Manawatu until the end of 2013.

While Manawatu may not see a lot of Smith in the green and white jersey, his input into the development of Manawatu rugby is seen as significant.

"We certainly miss his experience in the Turbos at present, but whether we have the opportunity to play him or not, he plays a very important role in the future of our Union, providing encouragement and enthusiasm for other players coming through our systems." said Turbos head coach Jason O'Halloran.

good for manawatu to retain these players, manawatu play in the championship division of itm, not premiership division (top 7), as o'halloran says it's important to a small union to have players like this involved
