Season over: Paddy Wallace

Ulster centre Paddy Wallace will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury sustained in last Friday's match with Glasgow.

The 33-year-old requires surgery which will rule him out for the rest of the campaign.

Jackson was substituted early in the second half having filled in at fly-half for youngster Paddy Jackson, who was away with Ireland.

Ulster said in a statement that Wallace "will require surgery and a significant period of rehabilitation".

The injury means that Wallace fellow casualties joins winger Tommy Bowe and flanker Stephen Ferris on the sidelines as Ulster prepare for their Heineken Cup quarter-final with Saracens at the beginning of April.

Fair enough I can see as an Ulster supporter any starter picking up an injury is a serious concern at this point in the season but in fairness Marshall should be starting and needs the exposure. If he can stay injury free then I think its only good for Ulster and Ireland moving forward. Ferris, Muller and Bowe are bigger concerns imo.

What a stupid comment. This is bad news for Irish rugby. What happens if Marshall gets injured during the 6 nations campaign? Who fills in for Ulster? You seem you forget that our long term plan seen the late Nevin Spence in that role. Now the cupboard is practically empty in that department.

If Marshall gets injured then we might as well forget about progressing to the next stage of the European Cup - bad news for Irish Rugby.

I think our injury list is now as follows

A Macklin

P Mc Allister

J Muller

S Ferris

R Wilson

C Henry

N Williams

J Payne

T Bowe

A Darcey

P Wallace

6 - 7 of which are XV starters!

Never like to see a player injured but this is great for Irish rugby. We should see Marshall getting Heineken Cup exposure. Hopefully Gilroy will get his start at well be laughing.

Our season has a definite chance of coming apart at the seams, the injury count is terrible and by the time we get everyone back from the 6n and they take their mandatory "break" we may have lost the league lead
