Tough defeat: Phil Davies

Cardiff Blues director of rugby Phil Davies is trying to remain positive after their 59-22 demolition at the hands of Leinster on Saturday.

The heavy RaboDirect PRO12 defeat saw the Blues leak nine tries to leave the region on a run of five successive losses in all competitions.

Davies is remaining upbeat however and believes there is light at the end of the tunnel as they look to recover after losing several senior players.

"I am not going to give up, not after nine games," he told Wales Online.

"Nobody is putting any context on this. Everybody knows where we are with the situation.

"We have lost an incredible amount of experience. These young fellas are standing up and trying things.

"Lots of them are in different positions to where they were in the squad before. They have been pushed to the front.

"We've just got to keep working with them and keep pushing on.

"They have plenty of ideas and plenty of determination and we keep looking at ways to improve.

"It's not pleasant at the moment, but better results will come."

@Melkdave - come off it - clear favourites for starting the tests (fitness allowing). Also, shouldn't Davies have insisted on some investment in the front 5 before taking the role.

@TO ALL

Whoa everyone lets remember the problem atrm at Cardiff is in the front 5 and specifically frontrow. Its very hard to wins games ,when you cant get or control the ball Its going to take a little time to recitify that problem ,maybe even new props needed..Also lets not get to carried away with the Lions talk of the Cardiff players atm only Halfpeeny ,and Cuthbert have a chance of making the squad ,let alone starting,Warburton keeps getting injured and isnt in form ,isnt even the best openside in Wales atm .While J.Roberts has just comeback from injury ,and again doesnt look match fit or in form .

@99call - that makes (fitness allowing) - Warburton, Roberts, Halfpenny, Cuthbert, almost 4 certain Lions. 90% chance of all 4 starting!

Cardiff have only beaten Connacht Treviso and the Dragons this season...

They got absolutely hammered by Leinster(again) and Ulster.

Things aren't going well in Cardiff, things need to change fast!!

Sorry but this doesnt cut it for me, look at the side that went to Dublin the team included, Warburton, Roberts, Halfpenny, Cuthbert, L Williams and B Davies. Thas 6 welsh internationals with 3 of them being potential Lions.

Davies may say the Blues have lost alot of experience but with those players at the core of your team I would expect more if I was a cardiff fan.

And I will say one thing some of those big names need to learn how to tackle, you dont need experience to tackle

He has to go! Never knows what he's talking about and failed to address the lack of any props who can scrummage!

Its about time the welsh internationals stepped up to the mark for the region! Players like jamie roberts, tom james, lloyd williamns and bradley davies need to start putting some effort and pride in the jersey!

Its not about the coach, the players need to take responsibility!

well the old saying is IT ALWAYS RAINS BEFORE THE SUNSHINES ,hopefully Cardiff will recover quickly and again be a major force in the Pro12 and elsewhere.
