Berrick Barnes: Set to leave for Japan

Waratahs utility back Berrick Barnes is set to leave the Sydney-based franchise at the end of the Super Rugby season to play in Japan according to Australian media reports.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Barnes will join the Panasonic Wild Knights where he is set to replace New Zealand playmaker Mike Delany.

Delaney, who has played in one Test for the All Blacks, is reportedly leaving the Wild Knights to further his career in France.

Barnes, who will be out of contract after the Super Rugby tournament, has been on the shopping list of Japanese and French clubs for some time.

During the Wallabies' end-of-year tour to Europe in 2012, he said he would wait until after this year's Super Rugby campaign before making a decision about his future.

But sources have told Fairfax Media that he has very recently signed his new contract with the Wild Knights.

Barnes has represented Australia in 50 Tests and become a vital component to the Wallabies on attack and in defence whether he plays at fly-half, inside centre or full-back.

Highly underrated player. I always worry when gets named in a Wallaby team to play the Boks. Tends to play very well against us

That would be a great loss to Australian rugby.

He is so useful.

I was getting more and more excited as I read Barnes to leave.... but then realsied you were talking about Berrick Barnes and not stuart barnes. You may wonder where I was anticipated stuart barnes to leave from, but for me it doesn't really matter I just want the irriating tub of lard to leave and not come back. Ever.

As far as Berrick goes? See you on the lions tour Mr Barnes.
