Brumbies scrum-half Nic White needed surgery on a fractured jaw after he was assaulted at a music festival in Canberra last month.

The Brumbies have cleared the 22-year-old of any wrongdoing and claimed he was struck once from behind.

Brumbies CEO Andrew Fagan said Canberra-based outfit investigated the incident soon after it occurred and that White didn't lay charges with police because he didn't see who his attacker was.

"Nic was the victim of an unprovoked assault in which he was king-hit when struck once at Foreshore through no fault of his own," Fagan told the Canberra Times. "He didn't miss any training.

"He was back training with the boys in the days following and has been training with the group ever since."

The Brumbies haven't imposed any punishment on White. Other Brumbies players were at the festival, however according to the Canberra Times none were with White at the time he was attacked.

The 22-year-old's training is restricted due to a shoulder injury and he is yet to begin contact work.

The fractured jaw won't rule him outof the Brumbies' season-opener against the Reds at Canberra Stadium on February 16.

White had a breakthrough season for the Brumbies, establishing himself as first-choice number-nine and earning a call-up to the Wallabies' squad for the Tests against Scotland and Wales in June.
