Cruel blow: James O'Connor

The Wallabies have been struck by yet another injury blow after utility back James O'Connor confirmed he won't tour with the squad in November.

Melbourne Rebels star O'Connor will not test his troublesome hamstring until next year following a disappointing medical assessment on Thursday.

"Just had meeting with doc looks like ill be in #teamrehab til after spring tour. Gutted I can't play but no risks with huge year ahead #2013," he tweeted, after missing the Rugby Championship.

"Been a tough year but also many positives have come from it," O'Connor said in another post.

He joins scrum-half Will Genia (knee) and centre Berrick Barnes (punctured lung) in missing out.

Rest up for next year lad. At this rate we could find Oz limp through Nov winning ugly and maybe dropping a game or two, UK media getting all excited about Lions dominance, then getting a rude shock in 2013 by running into a fit again JoC, Pocock, Genia, Moore, Horwill, Barnes, Ioane etc. I'm a kiwi, but credit where its due, these guys have held onto world #2 with a B team
