Great decision,Welsh won the championship and deserve their shot with the big sides. Great to see one of the famous old time clubs back up there.

Newcastle should accept their fate with a modicum of good grace, face it they were bottom and had to go down, thats what relegation is all about. Anyway Dean Richards has experience of coming back up from the championship. It could be a year that benefits club and coach.

Well done London Welsh.... what a glorious Club with a wonderful history! It will be tough for supporters travelling to Oxford for home matches... Good luck and let us see some decent performances.

fair play, they played some nice rugby in the champ and falcons were a 1 man show run by gopperth, gold tried to turn things around but he had no decent squad to play with, good luck to deano and a year in the champ might even help them

Just hope they can generate the support in Oxford that they will need to continue developing as a club. It's a fair hours trip for the average LW supporter who has historically been based in West London. sour grapes from Newcatle they've ben hanging on for the last few years but with Deano there I can't see them being down long. Can London welsh do an Exeter, that is the question

The right decision. A shame for The Falcons, but still the right decision.

@hellovanite - if you read Newcastle's statement you'll see it's more of a rallying call to win the Championship next season. I don't hear a lot of crying. The snippet quoted here is the only part that hints, and only hints, at an appeal. Not very balanced reporting in my opinion. OK, they'd be daft not to appeal as they've nothing to lose but Newcastle fans are happy to accept their fate, Welsh deserve promotion. This is good for rugby, end of story.

This was the correct decision. It is a promotion and relegation league and Newcastle finished last and should drop. If not, the do not call it promotion and relegation. I wish American rugby would follow this mold of promotion and relegation. Congratulations to the London Welsh. Go Pirates for next year.

Good to put this to bed. Congratulations to London Welsh. At the end of the day if its ok for London Irish to play at Reading, Saracens to play at Watford and Wasps to play at Wycombe its somewhat hypocritical to say London Welsh can't play at Oxford. With little time to prepare thay have way more than a mountain to climb to survive a year in the premiership, it will be a massive shock if they finish higher than 12th. As for Newcastle, hope they take this on the chin, accept the verdict and go into the championship with dignaty, at the end of the day they were bottom. If they work hard they will have a great chance of winning the league and that will put them in a stronger position in a years time than they are at the moment. Sometimes clubs have to take a big step back to make bigger progress forwards and a year in sport soon flies by.

Right result all round, very happy for London Welsh, perhaps old Gavin Henson should have opted for a move to Welsh when he was offered last season, in all honesty the only person to benefit from that move would have been Henson himself, the club would have had more trouble than his worth, anyway, GOOD LUCK WELSH!!!!!!!
