No place like home: Rob Kearney

Leinster and Ireland full-back Rob Kearney has signed a new two-year deal with the IRFU, keeping him in Ireland until the 2015.

Kearney recently returned to action for Leinster in the Heineken Cup and started for Ireland at full-back in the 30-22 win over Wales in Cardiff last weekend.

He has also been passed fit for Sunday's clash in Dublin against England.

Confirming the news on Twitter, Kearney expressed his delight at being able to stay with Leinster, where he has won three Heineken Cup titles in four years.

"There is no place like home. Delighted to have re signed with Leinster for two more years... Great club, players, coaches and supporters!" said Kearney.

Kearney's a class player, but I think Stuart Hogg has the edge over him for the Lions no.15 shirt at the moment.

@99call, I did see him play on Saturday. And I have rated Kearney right up there with Dagg as the best FBs playing today when he's on form. But Saturday wasn't his finest hour. I mean its not ideal for your FB to let the ball go loose on your try line while rolling around on the ground and trying to pick it up between his knees, do you think?

new_j4a and jimbosim did you see him play on saturday????????????? because if you did you wouldnt be spouting rubbish statements like that

Do you maybe think hes happy living and playing in Ireland at this stage of his career rather than stupid comments about the french obviously thinking hes not that good, not every player is looking for the big payout, wouldnt blame him if he did, unlike some welsh and english players theres still some loyalty in ireland

Has to be a relief for Leinster fans, though i do expect him to go to France after the contract ends.Thats if they are still spending big.It might be a totally different story in 2-3 yrs time .Also lets remember the french are spending money on players at the end of their international careers in the NH mostly.I know its different in the SH where they are going for younger quality playes, why i have no idea

Maybe Kearney isn't as good as some think, If the French had offered him anything like Sexton he would have gone?

What about Berrick Barns coming to leinster? I heard he was a possible replacement two years ago when sexton was goin to leave. I heard morne Stain is now a possibility for leinstwr, I'd rather o'gara then Morne

Great Kearney is signed up too

that's a relief

looks like the leak has been plugged. Church and Big Mike Ross have already signed up. Heaslo won't go to france as long as he's the national team captain, and Seany wouldn't leave ireland for all the neeps in tullow

The French must have seen him play on Saturday? Good for Leinster during the rebuilding years
