Highly rated: Kahn Fotuali'i

The Ospreys are eager to keep Kahn Fotuali'i at the Liberty Stadium next season, despite interest from teams in France.

Fotuali'i has been in impressive form during the November Internationals with Samoa and in the Heineken Cup with the Ospreys this season, putting him on the radar of several big-spending sides.

With the Samoan's current contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Ospreys remain hopeful that Fotuali'i will stay with the region, describing him as "world-class."

"I'd like to see him staying," said Ospreys backs coach Gruff Rees to the South Wales Evening Post.

"He's a world-class nine and some of the things he does defensively are sensational in terms of the way he reads the game.

"His snap decision-making and his ability to see things and do them in an instant put him a step ahead of most players I've seen."

Ospreys and Wales fly-half Dan Biggar is another whose deal runs out at the end of the season, with negotiations currently ongoing between both parties.

"Talks are ongoing with Dan," added Rees.

"We have a great relationship and he loves it here. From my point of view, the hope is it will all be concluded as quickly as possible.

"I'd love to have Kahn and Dan, two, plus the other pair of half-backs we have (Rhys Webb and Morgan), who complement Kahn and Dan's strengths.

"If we keep those I'd be in a really confident place about the future direction of this team, but we know there are budgetary restrictions and things we have to work our way around."

could've/should've been an AB. Imagine aaron smith, fotuali'i, and T. Kerr-Barlow all in the same ABs set-up, with Piri and TJ Perenara on the fringes

Not surprising that as he is the best 9 currently and will probably get better. He was potentially the best half in NZ when at the Crusaders but was overlooked.
