Hines handed six-week ban

SKY_MOBILE Nathan Hines & Aurelien Rougerie - Clermont

Heavy sanction: Nathan Hines

Clermont second row Nathan Hines has been slapped with a six-week suspension after being found guilty of stamping on Scarlets wing Morgan Stoddart.

At an independent disciplinary hearing in Dublin on Thursday Hines pleaded not guilty to the offence which occurred during the first half of Clermont's 49-16 Heineken Cup win at Stade Marcel Michelin on Saturday.

Stoddart was given a second yellow and subsequent red card for lying in an offside position but Hines had already taken the law into his own hands.

The Judicial Officer found that Hines "had stamped on his opponent and had connected on more than one occasion."

Employing the IRB recommended sanctions for Law 10.4 (b), he determined that the offence was at the mid-range entry point of five weeks. When considering aggravating factors, he added one week due to the player's disciplinary record, and imposed a suspension of six weeks.

Hines will be free to play on 26 November 2012 meaning the 35-year-old will miss this weekend's Heineken Cup clash against Exeter but will be available for Clermont's crunch Pool Five fictures against holders Leinster in December.

Both ERC and the player have the right to appeal the decision.

@Toulousain - I agree - I could have ignored the comments, but I'd prefer to fight them. Most of all, I'd prefer if people weren't so rude in the first place. Perhaps there should be a method by which we can all vote on posts that are inappropriate (which doesn't mean we don't agree with them, just that they aren't suitable for this site).

too much animosity building on this page methinks.... I prefer it when pages end with people sharing stories about their lives, their experiences, when/where they used to play rugby, or last time they went to watch a game, or their kids playing etc etc.

too often, the strings end with 2 or 3 guys just smashing lumps out of each other. like a weird side-show behind the referee's back when the ball is long gone and everyone else is playing the game.

too philosophical?

@Sincero - try reading before commenting. Read the sentence again, and confirm your comments were idiotic - hahahahaha. Perhaps you could explain why a two man turn around might not have impacted upon the game. Thanks for the attempted racist abuse - you must be a scumbag mate!

@BODsGOD, only relatively speaking. And you are right: he is a nasty piece of work. His argument is predicated on the assertion that Leinster is far more important than the "national" team. His hatred of all things English or Welsh means that he dismisses the Irish Team because it is tainted by Ulster. So in a perverted, narrow minded snit, he wants Leinster's fortunes placed at a higher priority than the "national" team even though the mercenary acquisition of talent that would be necessary to make up for the massive deficit of local Leinster talent needed to make Leinster dominant cannot be paid for out of the local Leinster coffers. His gripe appears to be that the IRFU (and France? and Germany?) refuse to fund his little ego trip....He is bigoted scum that should be an embarrassment to all the good rugby people of Dublin and Leinster.

Rosbif says...

Yep, he'll be back for the Toulouse game away on Dec 1st, and then of course the Leinster back to backs, but will miss the top of the table T14 game vs Toulon, and will be gone during the autumn internationals when ASM are already losing a lot of other players.

PS. a lot of talk in the French press about an alleged eye gouge against Nalaga in the second half. Did anyone see it?

@Sincero, maybe this Australian-born Scottish rugby union player, "Hinsey" as you call him in a sickening sycophantic whine, left Dublin for France to get away from bile spewing little knackers like you who equate "reasoned analysis" with "Hate the I.R.F.U.." Just a thought, mate. Have you noticed lots of other people moving away when you enter the room?

Sincero says...

'The game would have been won by Scarlets' haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Why are taffies so incapable of reasoned analysis on any topic involving a taffy rugby team? Sit down, Daffffyyddddd, you are being silly.

Toulousain... We wouldn't have parted with Hinesy for anybody... Thorn included. Damn I.R.F.U. really did a number on Leinster there. Forced the sale of a player who was invaluable to us, and who was happy and settled with his family here, so that Toner could be brought along as a player. Then they allow a non-Irish Qualified player in for 3 months at the business end of the season. How much more would Toner have learnt playing with Hinesy for these 2 seasons? It makes me very, very angry.

You see now that they're working against the provinces' success to try and achieve success with the national side (however, that doesn't work wither, as we've had the most inept coaching ticket for the past dozen or so years). Hate the I.R.F.U..

If you click on the photo you'll see Rougerie next to Hines, looks like he,s thinking:

" Oh la vache!!!!!, that,s a bit harsh, I gouged a blokes eyes out in a world cup final and never even got cited.... we did lose though"

The referee is always an idiot and has proven it again. He didn't even talk to Hines. Ban the moron for good! Stoddard actually got sent off for hardly anything, and if the referee had acted appropriately, the game could have been won by the Scarlets. That's a huge potential cost to them, so the moron must be held to account.

It was only a matter of time before we would agree on something leinster_goy. He is indeed very very good and strangely under-valued it would seem. And another perfect example of how the irfu interferes with the club/province system in your country. My guess is schmidt would never have given this guy away voluntarily? Not even to his old pal cotter.....

ps. We hear kaino could be available post xmas - not quite a lock, but can play there if needed?

pps. I assume you will pass on spies as we - we have picamoles, you have heaslip)
