@ekseks20 - is that the same Kitshoff that didn't exactly make a positive impact against Ireland U'20's???

I also reckon Isa Nacewa the rock-solid Aucklander would be a better prospect on the wing given that in big games these days you need wings ala Cory Jane who can also play as well at fullback for taking high balls and better positional play.

Matanavou???? Probably the worst player in the competition!!! What on earth was he selected for?

@waitaminute - you can't cheat your way to a 6N win - they were the best team in all fairness. Surely you can't think someone else deserved to win?

@rico - there is a problem with the strenght in depth and finance. In all fairness to the Ospreys, they have now got rid of their idiot coaches. The Welsh team is spread too thinly though - the Dragons must go - at least in their current capacity.

@leinster_goy - they play well as a team - lots of good players - extremely lucky to win their semi though, as I'm sure you agree!

@PR: Muller's most 'selfless contribution' was to persuade the Ulster brass that Brian McLaughlin wasn't the man to bring the club forward. Will they be toasting him when AB unknown kiwi with no track record fails to build on McLauglin's tenure?

Far too many Ulster players. They didnt turn up for the final. Ulster's south Africans, for all the hype about them, had little influence on the final. Ditto ferris. BOD should be in for his influence in the latter stages when it really counts. Also Cullen or Thorn in for Muller and it's not a bad side.

@petey11 I have watched him every week in the Rabo and through the pool stages and do not see how anyone could call him defensively reliable or anything more than a good runner with ball in hand. I think he has the potential to be excellent but currently doesn't do enough for me.

For once I really like the look of this list. Really impressive team.. You'd think that team under a decent coach would cause any world XV a lot of trouble. Defense on the wings would be questionable though... I'd have Isa Nacewa in at 11 to balance, his defensive work is one of his underrated talents. THAT tackle on Darren Cave says so much about him, and my living memory of Racing Metro's first game in the Hcup against Leinster will be Isa destroying the beast that is Chabal in the tackle. Also, imagine the two Fijians linking up in attack? Mouth watering prospect!

@ darthbok - Stu Hooper was Bath's captain for this season. When injured, others stepped in, but Hoops was the incumbent. I agree that Claassens was before, but it was Hoops this season.

Nah rico, I'd say its something to do with Wales not being able to cheat their way to victory as they have done in the nations....

Ball boys, fwd passes ect ect... de-val-ued.

Maybe if you'd actually watched how Gilroy has played from the pool stages right through then you'd be in a more educated position to comment. He's done a hell of a lot more than you've said and is one of the most exciting young wingers we've seen on these shores for years.

not one welsh player or even one welsh based regional rugby player anywhere near the teams really - byrne and beck easily beaten ay 15 and 12 by better players. just highlights regions continued dismal mperformances at the highest level in Europe. maybe Wales' international success is dripping their enthusiasm for this comp. as they all seem so massively focused and commited to Wales rather than their clubs as they miss so much of the season with them anyway.

@Darthbok

Calm down. PR is merely noting that the good folk of Belfast love Muller, even though he isn't Irish. There's nothing anti-South African in this observation.

@Rockman - Kidney Clock is class! - Pity there's so long left - In fact, pity the worldcup draw will be within the time Kidney is still Ireland coach... Expecting a hammering in New Zealand unless the players decide to ignore all he says and play their own game - although against a team like the All Blacks you need proper coaching to go with the players...

Could you send the clock on to the IRFU along with all the thousands of comments from Irish (and other) rugby supporters calling for a new Irish coach!

@lawynd Well maybe if the "a.n other" brothers were playing they might have H-Cups to show for themselves to justify there selection !!!!

Forwards: well at hooker - Ross Ford did more than R.Best for me but again a weak year when no hookers stood out.

6.7.8 In the back row its a tussle between Harinordoguay who had a few good group performances and Ferris who was a consistant performer also Dusuatoir would be in contention but Toulouse's poor showing mean he couldnt be picked imo

Back Line: Lee Byrne was fantastic but Kearney obviously ties up the 15 spot. Also Farrell had a good campaign for sarries but at 12 would be out of position. Few bar pienaar came close to Parra at 9 too. 12 was a position when few showed themselves to "own" the jersey Fofana was great for france but that was the 6 nations and he did little in the group stage, bar two tries against leicester, although he had a fantastic top 14 which was the basis for him getting capped in the 6 nations

Never makes a hit or catches a high ball and doesn't appear to like contact-lapped tackle on O'Brien when he broke through. This is someone speaking from Ireland too. I'd have Nacewa long before him.
