rude80..would like you to elaborate on the etc..etc..!!, bc i dont think theres alot else in the trophy cabinet!! .. considering a population of 40mil+ your showing at the recent olympics was pretty dismal compared to nz with only 4mil+!!

Agreed you do have passionately fierce rugby, good football, good basketball, good hockey, and great steak.. but i think youll find argentina have only won 2 football world cups and not the "several" you claim

Actually, Kiwikev didn't actually say, or imply that Argentina is in the NH. He just said that the comments sound like every NH side. That is just general comprehension....despite the fact that KiwiKev is an idiot. Yes, they thrive everywhere.

NZ's advantage is in the forwards in that they can handle the ball and contribute on offense in more ways than just the set piece and at the breakdown. Australia have the backs but a very questionable tight 5 which could see them biting a wooden spoon. South Africa have the hardest forwards but injury is wreaking havoc on the team and their backs play a bit stiff on attack. Argentina can match the hard play of all the 3 forward pack but not the AB's forward's ability to add to attack. Once their backs adjust to SH back play this team will compete and the individual Argentine backs will flourish in their respective NH competitions.

Comments like yours are always welcome. Good sport.

Apologies if my previous post offended our friends from Aotearoa, my intention was to reprimend two out of the context posters, and not to have a go to a whole nation, which I fully respect.

@Rude_80 Agree

Kiwikev lets his patriotism get in the way of his touch typing.

Sounds like a geography lesson is also on the cards

Please excuse our 10 year old fellow kiwikev. Not all New Zealanders think like him (no brainer). Argentina into the 3 nations is like Italy's case. Thought I think the Pumas have a great chance to defeat these 3 powers within 3 years period.

What idiots you are! You obviously come from Rantaroa, the Land of Long Rants.

Once again, bienvenidos a nuestros amigos Argentinos. May the braai world derby continue.

This is only a learning curve for the lads, getting use to the tournament may require a couple of test with a little flexibility from referee considering 100% of the squad play's northern hemisphere.....

Springboks showed a lesson of capitalizing opposition mistakes + tremendous physicality, they were quite predictable with the ball, but still, they do basic things with a perfect execution.

To afford this competition the Pumas are going to need a regular kicker to the posts. Hernandez is a key player, but not naturally a kicker. Story could change on 2nd Half but missed to post 3 clear penalties with Bosch taking 1 of them.

Argentina match at home shouldl have a closer result .

Welcome Argentina! Inclusion in the SH rugby club should have happened last millennium, better late than never!

These things take time. Look at rugby union in Australia - nurtured and subsidised by NZ during the 1960's and '70's, and now the Australian record includes having won the World Cup!

It's great to have the Argies in the 4N/TRC! Our little SH rugby world can only benefit from having the occasional new perspective and fresh blood. Let's not forget that the Argies have a few world class players too. We're not talking about one of the world minnows suddenly being chucked in the deep end here. We're talking about a group of gifted individuals who, because of professional pressures, have not really had much of a chance to gel as a team over the years.

Given exposure to the intensity of SH (3N) rugby, the Argies will only get better and my guess is that happens quite quickly. These guys can play! And they are old school rugby players who subscribe to the ethos - hard on the field and humble off it (in my limited experience). This team will be appreciated by the local supporters wherever they play (maybe until they start to give the home team a run for its money! Ha ha)

Once they get some variation in the back play, with their forward pack they will be tough to beat. Let's wait for a few more rounds before writing them off?

It's Awesome to have the Argies in the comp and I reckon in the next 1 -2 years they will be serious contenders. At the end of the day rugby wins here and can only serve to further strengthen SH rugby as the dominant force in world rugby.

Bokke you better get your act together and fast or you could find yourselves propping up the table again, there are more than 10 players in a rugby team.

@Kiwikev... What a dopy remark, do you seriously expect the Captain of an international team to stand in front of the press and say "Yeah, we don't have the ability to win these games"? especiallay after the inaugral game for his team in a prestidgious competition? are you nuts?

@ Kiwikev

Fair enough...Argentina doesn't have the goods...yet. Nonetheless, there is a rather steep learning curve to transition from participating in very few (or no) tournaments to the Rugby Championship, and given the passion of the Argentinian players (like their captain) and this golden opportunity to establish itself as a true rugby power, Argentina will be well on their way in a few years' time. It's also quite honorable for a captain to stay positive, even when overmatched. That said, how about giving them a little more time than one match to show they "have the goods" necessary to bridge that gap.

Santiago Phelan said he was happy with his team's attitude, and so he should be. They were clearly exhausted at the 70 minute mark, there was no way for them to win the game from 27-6 down, and I was genuinely expecting them to crack. But they didn't, they defended with absolute determination for those final 10 minutes and I think really defied to odds by denying the Springboks a bonus point. You can't coach that sort of attitude, either the team has it or they don't.

Please ignore my fellow Kiwi. Very disrespectful thing to say.

You better hope we don't lose to the Pumas aye. They'll be especially dangerous in Argentina... for all three nations.

@Kiwikev What do you think u r? The only thing NZ has is rugby and sheep.

Argentina has good rugby, great football(world champs several times), top ten tennis players, great basketball, female field hockey world champs, etc, etc,.... and here we have an islander with an ego...please, drink beer and count sheep....

Glad the Pumas re-doubled their effforts in the 2nd half - noticable improvement on the first half.

The Pumas best spell were in parts of the 4th quarter - shows they mean to compete however strong the opposition.

Early days for the Pumas - in time they will win games.

Remember France ?
