Back in camp: Peter Horne
Scotland have added 13 players to their 23-man squad ahead of Saturday's clash with Italy at Murrayfield.
Hooker Pat MacArthur, back-rower Robert Harley and full-back Peter Murchie (all Glasgow Warriors) together with Edinburgh lock Grant Gilchrist had all travelled with the main party to Twickenham for their opener against England.
Peter Horne, the Glasgow Warriors centre, will return to camp having been ruled out of the England game due to a thumb injury.
Eight players are promoted from the Scotland A squad following their 13-9 win over England Saxons at Newcastle on Friday.
They are: props Jon Welsh (Glasgow Warriors) and Alasdair Dickinson (Sale Sharks), hooker Steve Lawrie (Edinburgh), back-rower Richie Vernon (Sale Sharks), scrum-half Sean Kennedy (Glasgow Warriors), fly-half Tom Heathcote (Bath) and wings Nikki Walker (Worcester Warriors) and Duncan Taylor (Saracens).
Scotland team doctor James Robson revealed that Perpignan flanker Alasdair Strokosch will see a surgeon on Tuesday to decide if he can play any further part in this year's Six Nations.
Strokosch had to retire injured early in last Saturday's Calcutta Cup loss to England.
"It would seem he has a fractured orbit (area around the eye) but, as ever with such collision-type injuries, they can take time to settle," explained Robson.
"He will be examined by Martin Paley, a maxillary facial specialist at Spire Murrayfield Hospital on Tuesday, to determine the extent of the injury and any recovery schedule."
In addition to Strokosch, a number of other Scotland forwards will require medical assessment over the next few days.
Hooker Dougie Hall (knee), back-row forwards David Denton (knee) and Johnnie Beattie (ankle) will be under the care of physiotherapists Paul McGinley and Stephen Mutch.

Lamont simply has to go. With one of the most lethal back threes in the competition, Scotland desparately needs someone who can pass the ball.

I agree with all these call ups apart from the wingers ,thats one department Scotland dont need looking at imo.Myself id rather see Dunbar or Grove called up and S.Lamont drop to the A team ,i feel J.Welsh, and A.Dickinson, should be on the bench this coming weekend ,and R.Grant should start for E.Murray.Also Gilchrist for Hamilton, and either D.Weir or T.Heathcote starting at 10 mainly Heathcote ,as he offers a running option ,that Weir doesnt and Jackson has apparantly lost.Yes i know risky but Iyaly looked very good against France, and some of the old guard still look klike they are coasting, dont care, sure theirs no else to take their jersey. That perception has to go asap .Also D.Denton his out of form ,and also should be in the A team at the moment to regain his confidance / form.Dont know ebough about Harley,so going with Vernon as his replacement .Scotland really could do with R.Rennie ,any news onhim at all??
