If I recall correctly Donnacha came in to the ruck and after the ball was cleared by Phillips, Davies lifted Ryan and speared him to the ground. There was no ball anywhere near the ruck at the time. I cant decide if he deserves a longer ban. I feel Ireland has been robbed again in six nations against Wales, last years ''fast line out'' wich resoulted as a try for Wales, and this years yellow instead of red card. If Davies got a red card maybe things would go different ways although hats off to the Wales, they ate us with the backs and there wasnt much Irish backs could do about it.

Should count himself lucky - this incident is as bad as eye-gouging.

All in all, a quite mild ruling.

7 weeks for that?! What a farce. I know it's not legal and it is dangerous, but Ryan didn't land head first and he wasn't driven into the ground. I agree it should be a red and a ban but not 7 weeks. Speaking as a Wales fan I hope Ferris isn't treated as harshly, but his wasn't quite so bad so I would imagine he'll get less anyway.

Would have preferred a tiny bit more, but 7 weeks isn't bad. Nice to hear of a reasonable sanction from the IRB.

I couldn't see him avoiding a ban. It was a bad incident. I can't really call it a tackle as it was so far off the ball and not really in the context of the game.

The is no place for this in rugby and it needs to be stamped out. Hopefully this will help.
