New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been called "a disgrace" by Wales assistant coach Rob Howley after striking Bradley Davies in Saturday's Test in Cardiff.

The incident forced Davies to leave the field in the opening minutes of the match and has been widely condemned by fans and the media after video content of the incident circulated online.

Hore's blindside shot on the Cardiff second row has been cited, with the hearing on Wednesday.

"What Hore did has got no place on a rugby field, as far as I am concerned," said Howley.

"It was an absolute disgrace. He has been cited, and I am sure it won't be taken too lightly.

"Situations and incidents like that have no place on the rugby field, and it had a huge impact on the game.

"You don't traditionally think the All Blacks want to do things like that. They are a good enough team not to so we were very surprised by the actions of the player.

"Bradley has severe concussion and cannot play this weekend.

"It was pretty obvious that something untoward had happened.

"Whether the referee should be able to go to the TMO in those situations is something for the IRB to decide."

I cannot imagine how guys think they are going to get away with doing things so outrageous with the amount of cameras there are around the stadiums nowadays!!! It is a display of monumental stupidity.

If he doesn't get 16 weeks or more for this then the disciplinary system is a joke. It was a punch / forearm smash, premeditated, from behind on a defenceless person resulting in unconsciousness, hospitalisation and concussion.

As my username suggests I am no stranger to the darker side of the game, in fact I used to look forward to the physical challenge of it, but I am proud that I finished my career and can say I never kicked any one in the head or testicles, I never bit, gouged or struck someone from behind. I think this lad will look back and feel deeply ashamed of his actions in the years to come.

I am English and a passionate supporter of our on off team, I have no love for the welsh.

*Yawn* Okay now it's starting to seem Wales are blowing this all out of proportion to take away from the fact they pretty much got thumped.

Hore has zero history of thuggery, it was a one off stupid act. It's over, it's done with, there was actually a game of rugby played. Build a bridge and get over it.

And Rob Howley tries to distract us from the obvious questions about Wales form!

Personally I think Hore is getting more stick than he deserves here. I have seen Samoa do far worse intentionally on many an occasion. This just looks like an unfortunate incident with no malice.

Yet again NH coaches and media blow a situation out of proportion to detract from their short comings on the field. Hore should have been carded, but. It was missed at the time, he has been subsequent been cited and should be dealt with accordingly. Their annoyance at acts like this are selective and sensationalist. Couple years back McCaw was hit by a cheep shot by Andy Powell went unpunished, as was a similar hit by Dylan Hartly. Yes Hore should be dealt with, but the Welsh coaches and British media need to be a less hypocritical and one eyed in their comments.

NZ will no doubt name him player of the year. Just like they named Bryce Lawrence ref of the year after the performance that got him banned from reffing

Coward behaviour. Hitting an opponent from behind is simply awful. Should be sent home swimming.....
