It's a tough one! AR's record is terrible but when he first took the job he was a breath of fresh air with potential after the previous stale situation. He's been too slow in bringing on the youth and give players such as deLuca far too many chances! However the player pool is very limited and Scotland are the only country to have failed to accept and understand the professional era. There are only two professional teams! The third one was scrapped because the SRU couldn't afford it and when they sold the Edinburgh franchise they couldn't accept not having autonomy over the Scottish game. The fault clearly lies with the SRU and the fact they've resorted to employing Lineen to scour the planet for eligible players is sad! There should be four professional teams. It makes sense if there are 60 guys playing high level rugby, there's more chance of talent coming through..
I think any coach would struggle in the Scotland job. There is potential there but there needs to be a clearout! A third of Saturday's team shouldn't be selected again. No point in taking most of them on the summer tour. They've all been tried and tested. Time for youth Mr R. Scottish rugby is at rock bottom. Whitewash and beaten and humiliated by Italy. Now is the time to make wholesale changes as no one is going to expect anything other than defeat! Better to blood youngsters instead of playing dead wood!!

Much as I like the guy, I have been critical of AR both as England coach and Scotland, personally I think that he should be coaching forwards like he was under SCW.
But when all is said and done, you can't polish a turd, most of these players come from the Scottish franchises one of which is a loss away from being overhauled by Aironi, the other doing better but OK rather than spectacular.
To take Italy and the luminaries that have coached them, they're still Italy and whilst more competitive than they have been, they will still start every 6N campaign as Wooden Spoon favourites.
The SRU needs to decide where it is going, binning a head-coach because of results when the quality of player just isn't available is like blaming a driver for a blown tyre.

@blametheref... I would be inclined to pick a Scottish coach.... Craig Chalmers is a former Scottish grand slam fly half, has a proven coaching record and knows how to pick a team.

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works here and say he shouldn't go...sure he's the first coach that has ever done so badly in the world cup and to follow that up with a wooden spoon is bad but I don't blame robinson, I blame bad luck and a lack of talent for scotlands failures. I mean let's be honest...for most of the games they were fine up front but lacking in the backs...well imagine their potential backline in the summer... 9-cusiter, 10-weir/jackson, 11-visser, 12-S. Lamont, 13-Ansbro, 14- jones, 15- hogg. That's a backline that could (within reason) challenge any of the NH sides...

Time to go Andy, if only for your sanity.
Get a job with a team to build on, somewhere like the Ospreys.
Doubt they would offer you the job though, unless you work for free.

I would be surprised if AR decides to go ,after all the SRU is finally getting off its ass it seems .With the appointments of S.Johnson and M/Taylor to help him and S.Lineen to take charge of the U20s and with a brief to look for players with a scottish connection which would allow them to play for Scotland .I do however feel a clearout of players is needed so the coaxhes have a clean sheet to work with though Alot of the old guard im afraid have just not performed this year or any year to their potential. Most probably because of the small pool of players avilable to Scotland .This has ment some players are guareented their places no matter how they are performing .Hopefully that will now change and form takes prioity over reputation

@Michtymauler
lol! Well he's been with Italy for the last few years, so Scotland would be a step up for him (despite the result last Saturday). He seems pretty good at bring together teams with limited resources and getting them to play with passion. I personally think he did well with Italy, and Scotland have much more potential for him to work with.
Robinson just seems to lack something, I don't know what, but he just doesn't seem to create winning teams. Scotland need freshening up and for that reason Robinson should go. They need someone new, full of hunger and belief, to revitalise them.

@pierredelot1 ... How about Hogg, Ansbro, Evans... Scotland has pretty decent outside backs if you had bothered to notice, the problem is that Robbo is picking centres who cannot pass therefor our back three unable to get into the game. If he had picked the likes of Matt Scott, Alex Grove or Ansbro(when fit) it would have been a very different story. First step is to start picking centres who can pass the ball.

Scotland should go for Eddie O' Sullivan, one thing O' Sullivan would bring to Scotland's game is far better structure than the more passionate Robinson...Ireland won their recent Grand Slam on the back of EOS's work, I feel he'd understand the Scot mentality, being an Irishman, better than Robinson did...The other option is Michael Bradley who could be good too

He has got to go he has done his best for a while with the strong defence and a kicker routine we were doing well, beat Agies away twice and Aust and SA at home, but that was only short term to steady the ship after the last muppet. Now he is trying to take us to winning by 7 instead of 3 points which is right as we need to make games more certain and it's not happening. We should have mullered Italy they had a set of backs with the cutting edge of a butter knife our lot should have powered therought them using Denton and Gray as the line breakers what did we do? Kick it back to them so they had 80 minutes to attack and even they managed a try! Totally wrong tactics and if that's us attacking then god help us. We need somebody with new ideas Robinson did his best and got us off the floor but he is taking us back there now.

I don't think Timmy Mallet would throw away a top showbizz career and take up a deadend position such as Scotland coach!!! :-D

Doesn't matter who coaches them, there is so little International standard talent in Scotland at the moment. Never seen it so bad, that and the fact that the modern game ensures that all teams are short of a couple through injury leaves you wondering where Scotland will be in a couple of years time. Gray is the only shoe in for the Lions tour although Denton should possibly be given a chance to get in the squad. The rest nowhere.

Maybe Mallet as head coach? If he doesn't end up with England.
