Staying: Peter O'Mahony

Munster flanker Peter O'Mahony has signed a new contract with the IRFU to keep him in the country until the end of the 2014/2015 season.

The Cork native made his debut for his home province in 2010 and he has been playing regularly in the Munster side over the last two seasons.

He has since recorded over 43 appearances, captaining the side at the beginning of the 2011/12 season.

His international career has seen him captain Ireland at both schools and under-20 levels, culminating in him winning his first full international cap against Italy in the Six Nations.

A versatile forward, who has played across all of the back row positions, he has gone onto to win a further eight caps for his country and was recently named in the squad for this season's Six Nations Championship.

"I am delighted to have my future sorted and to commit to Munster," said O'Mahony.

"It has been a really enjoyable journey so far for me in my career and the last two seasons in particular have been exciting, from breaking into the Munster team and captaining the side and then earning my first cap for Ireland.

"I'm thoroughly enjoying my rugby at the moment and feel there is much more that we can achieve with Munster and Ireland over the next couple of years and I wanted very much to be a part of that."

Didn't think they'd let him go, not after we've lost Quinny, Wallace, Leamy! We've got some decent back rowers now but not all are international class

Dont think there were any real big offers on the table for him so hes was always going to stay which is good

Sexton has taken the big money but I dont see there being a mass exodus of irish boys to france as they are getting very well paid in ireland compared to welsh and english lads and there are some very nice tax breaks available to make them think about staying put
