Every national side is almost certain to have injuries at any given time & the majority of the Irish players have had a couple of weeks rest now.

Did DK even bother bringing a third tighthead... you know just in case the painfully inevitable happens?
Declan Fitzpatrick and Jack McGrath.are the only specialist available in that position and they are not even number one in their clubs.
Fitzpatrick is only just back from injury and I think McGrath is still on the mend.
Well the only plus is that losing three games away to NZ can't put us too much further down the rankings.

The strength of a country is not just determined by the on-field side but by the depth of their replacements. NZ also has had its fair share of injuries to key personnel recently. With the intensity of impact, speed and power in the modern game, injuries are to be expected and the current fashion of selecting players who can cover numerous positions reflects this. Hansen and Smith on discussing amongst others Weepu, Ben Smith and Andre Taylor made this point very clear. How far behind (or otherwise) are Ireland, I think you do see that every time they take the pitch... and if that has happened regularly to Ireland, it probably gives you all the answers you need.

Ross is currently Ireland's single most important player - not because he is world class, but because he can hold up the tighthead side of the scrum. If he doesn't play, this could sadly turn into a rout in the first test. In the long-run might be a blessing in disguise, as Ireland HAVE to find another tighthead as backup if they don't want regular pastings like what England handed out in the 6 nations.

I agree ArmchairGeneral, they looked dead on their feet against the Ospreys and I can't imagine many of the players are too thrilled by the prospect of having to take on the ABs in their own back yard when they're running on empty. England were lucky in that Harlequins rotated their players effectively and none of their teams got too far in the H cup so they don't look quite so knackered. It makes it so hard for NH teams to compete in the test windows as they are either right at the end of a long slog or only a few weeks in after a long break whereas the SH teams are either mid-way through or coming off a test series

when was the last time a full strength and fully fit Irish team actually played the all blacks? not offering excuses but at least we can judge fairly how far behind how national team really is against the best. A written off Irish team is one of the most dangerous teams there is in world rugby, where as a confident/cocky Irish team is one of the worst ha on the plus side kidney has given us no reason to have any confidence in him or his Irish team so maybe we will actually perform in at least one of our 3 tests. Here's Hoping!

Leinster doing well in getting to finals of both pro12 and HC disadvantages rather than advantages Ireland prior to a tour end of season. They're all knackered. Ospreys pipped them for this reason, ABs will decimate Ireland despite them being good enough to give ABs a tough game when fresh. First 60 mins of first test will be the best showing from Ireland after which it's carnage.
