New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been called "a disgrace" by Wales assistant coach Rob Howley after striking Bradley Davies in Saturday's Test in Cardiff.

The incident forced Davies to leave the field in the opening minutes of the match and has been widely condemned by fans and the media after video content of the incident circulated online.

Hore's blindside shot on the Cardiff second row has been cited, with the hearing on Wednesday.

"What Hore did has got no place on a rugby field, as far as I am concerned," said Howley.

"It was an absolute disgrace. He has been cited, and I am sure it won't be taken too lightly.

"Situations and incidents like that have no place on the rugby field, and it had a huge impact on the game.

"You don't traditionally think the All Blacks want to do things like that. They are a good enough team not to so we were very surprised by the actions of the player.

"Bradley has severe concussion and cannot play this weekend.

"It was pretty obvious that something untoward had happened.

"Whether the referee should be able to go to the TMO in those situations is something for the IRB to decide."

@passtheball

Touring the nh worth it? Son, your team would be running around in old potato sacks with the nh money. Be grateful we pay you to come beat us most years!

@Bronco

Your a disgrace in every sense of the word. Hopefully you'll be spear tackles like BOD then we'll see how macho you are about it. Two hefty AB driving your body into the ground head first. Maybe you'll never be able to type again. Then again that's no lose.

@ Trelawney, thanks for the correction. If that was the only fact you picked was wrong supposedly you must then agree with the rest of my post...cheers!

Been away for a few days, so am amazed at how defensive SOME of the NZ "supporters" are.

Dragging up about Powell.

It was face on, very clumsy, probably could have been cited, but wasn't.

Hore, swung at Davies, from behind, when Davies was changing his running line, (something that is not exclusive to Wales or the NH!) Hore may not have intended to knock Davies out, but HE DID.

If it had happened in the street, the CPS would probably say there was a case to answer.

If it had been seen by the ref, AND Davies had got up, probably only a PK.

But as he was badly injured, Hore has to pay the consequences. His smiling snigger when caught on camera, did him no favours.

Please don't bleat about the commentators, certainly no worse than what is in attendance in the SH.

Don't you remember Meathead Mexted?

Your own description of him!

We did not have to make one up, you did it for us!

As to the "media", if you don't like it, don't read it!

Hope your replacement hooker has a blinder, as I do not want to see the actions of one player detract from your performance.

What a load of old bollocks. Davies got no more than he deserved, he's been getting away with infringing for far too long, not that he is the only lock doing it! Locks historically are bully boys in one form or another! Davies done something similar to Ryan against Ireland and got away with it. Mind you Barnes was the referee of that game....enough said about him. On viewing the replay it does not look as bad as some I've seen, the guy just has a glass jaw.

@passtheball,

Dead right, every tour they find something to moan about.

That Dan Carter is nothing but trouble!

@norm, who's trolling?

If you are not interested in viewing the incident, why comment?

BOD was having a sneaky go at disrupting the ball, sticking his foot round the side and not binding on properly or keeping proper body position. When the clearout hit, he wasn't in a position to resist and fell awkwardly (admittedly with two All Blacks still attached to him).

It would be nice if people would stop going on about it, it was a non event, the same thing happens a hundred times a season, BOD just got injured this time so the NH press went into overdrive.

As they are now with Hore.

bigb6969 - right on. Not a penalty, a caution or a citing - just a fair cop on McCheat -who deserves all the cheap shots he gets. NZ management said nothing as usual. Double standards / hypocrisy? The noise (and constant replays) they made about that "thug" Dan Carter last time really tells you this not about justice or fair play. Is touring the NH really worth it?

I know the tape. An arm and a leg each upended and dropped on his head. I suspect the dropping on the head you are familiar with if you maintain this is legal. Anywhere like I said a puerile debate and have interest in feeding trolls

jamesliveinhope says...Powell act was more deliberate than Hore's, but even if accept it was a accident then his punishment should be the same that Hore gets. Powell got no citing, in fact on the field McCaw was called for a knock on, and another difference you did not mention was Davies was actually cheating he was jumping side to side getting in the way, unlike McCaw who was running the ball

RonanM - its not just this time

Its everytime the ABs tours - The Welsh went ballistic over the haka one tour. All the media over the PI poaching issue another two at least. Its endless. The press are like vultures waiting for some issue to ignite the readers angst and the readers, for their part, like robots, respond. No proportion at all!

jameslivesinhope - spot on - Davies was up to mischief before the Hore brain explosion - his first in a decade of top rugby, I believe. He will get punished but some would like a public flogging it seems. Impossible for Hore to get a fair trial now? An unhappy hooker.

@norm

it was a legal clear out, BOD just got himself tangled up.

BBC SPORT: Powell's head high on McCaw was a cheap shot and right in front of the ref. You will note you hysterical Welsh fans that there has been no similar reaction from NZ fans over the non-citing of Powell. The only reaction has been Hansen saying on arrival back in NZ "I would have expected him to be cited but it doesn't surprise me that he wasn't." Powell dodged a bullet on this one somehow, with referee Alan Lewis only signalling a scrum for the McCaw knock-on as he dropped the ball in the hit.

Fair play!

@Euskadi - Howley was NOT playing. It was Bradley Davies who was, please get your facts right!

I agree with NZ supporters when they say the media is kicking up far too much of a fuss but don't delude yourselves into thinking he didn't mean it. It was an attempt to hurt Davies disguised as a clearout, and it went wrong. He didn't mean to put the guys in hospital, but he did and he has to face the consequences of that. Those saying Davies deserved it for getting in the way are only adding ammo to those who think NZ are thugs. Every team does it's best to get in the way and annoy the opposition, heck, the All Blacks are masters at it. In no way what so ever does it justify this attack.

Cringe!!!! This isn't covering wales in glory really, is it. Bad losers making an attempt to deflect the spotlight way from their sub standard performance.

no one in the entire world can hold a candle to the all blacks but luckily we've got this big stick to hit 'em with now. Woohoo! ...Only, I don't even like being associated with back biting like this, even if it is only by being a member of the home nations or even someone living in the same hemisphere as these poisonous insects who are dart out from under their stone sink the fangs in, then dart back into cover.

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, YOU WANNA BEAT NZ? THEN IMPROVE!!!!!! AND IT STARTS AT CLUB LEVEL!!!!! Some people in rugby make me sick. they just hold back the sport.

It will be interesting to see if Saint Richie McCheat gets a similar "clear out" at the weekend, if the kiwi posters will be quite so willing to forgive and dilute the action of an English player? I think not........

ronanmeagher says...

I take issue with the all the comments regarding the NH media blowing this out of proportion.

I don't the French, Italian, Irish or Scottish media is saying much about this. I'm sure it probably got a mention but nothing more.

Its kinda understandable that the Welsh media are hyping it up, it was their player that got taken out.

It was a cheap shot by Hore, which had the consequence of knocking Davis out.

Its been done before, doesn't have any place in the game but Davis was loitering on the wrong side and should have expected something..........he'll probably get, and deserve 4 - 6 weeks, which will mean he will miss 1 match...end of story

passtheball says...

I don't know why anyone would be surprised by the NH media. They know exactly who they are aiming their articles at. If its not PI poaching (sadly for them that's back-fired) its the haka, cheating, lenient or biased refs (now all we get is pedantic NH refs). But now, joy of joys, there's something real to feel morally superior about - we always knew they were thugs.

Considering how much money the NH unions make out of the ABs every tour you might think they would be a bit more welcoming as hosts? yeah right
