Spot on Bones7 - injury clearly slowed him down (hopefully that was just a short-term problem).

Warburton's problem at the end of the season was that he was just not fit. He was physically run down and patched back together. Wales need to manage him effectively otherwise he'll be on the scrap heap in a couple of years. He is a very special player but no one is going to get the edge on Pocock when they have been injured for extended spells, just as an injured Pocock wouldn't get the better of Warburton.

I agree with cuw3100 though, sometimes a bloke just has to be a Marty Holah. I'm interested to see what will come of the Pocock, Gill and Hooper situation, all young opensides in great form and not enough space to pick all three surely.

J.Tipuric was the inform openside at the end of the season ,and in the summer tests S.Warburtonwas lucky imo to play in the summer tests, he needs to recapture his RWC form asap or find himself behind J.Tipric if he continues playing like he did

Is he the same guy compared to McCaw?

In the All Black teams the openside has been long term incumbents, thus many good ones never got test opportunities. Michael Jones, Josh Kronfeld, Richard McCaw all have played over 50 tests (RM over 100) so imagine the number of guys who had little opportunity to play. It was even worse when Jerry Collins was blindside (40 odd tests).

sometimes its pure bad luck to be born and play among great players, like Dan Carter for example.
