Brad Shields Hurricanes 2012

Happy in Wellington: Brad Shields

Hurricanes duo Brad Shields and Reggie Goodes have re-committed to the franchise and Wellington Lions.

As the pair begin to tackle their second Super Rugby season, their re-signing is welcome news for Hurricanes and Wellington Rugby CEO James Te Puni.

"This is fantastic for our region and the Hurricanes," said Te Puni.

"Both are hardworking, dedicated young men who reflect the team culture we seek to create. They are great role models for aspiring Hurricanes."

Back-rower Shields, who successfully came back on the field in the pre-season match against the Chiefs in Mangatainoka after sustaining a knee injury last July, is thrilled to continue his career with the 'Canes.

"I'm stoked that I can play where I love and I can't see myself playing anywhere else," he said.

"There is such an awesome team culture here and it is pretty special to be a part of it."

Shields has signed for the Hurricanes for the 2014 season and extended his Wellington Lions contract for 2013.

South African-born prop Goodes made an exciting start to his Super Rugby career in 2012 and is looking forward to doing it all a second time around this year.

He will add to the hotly contested front-row positions within the 2013 team.

"I'm very happy to have re-signed with the Lions and extend my Hurricanes contract to the end of 2014," he revealed.

"It's an exciting two years ahead."
