Easterby slams poor Scarlets

Not happy: Simon Easterby

Scarlets head coach Simon Easterby criticised his team after they were knocked out of the Heineken Cup courtesy of a 29-0 defeat to Clermont.

The French outfit rounded off a flawless Pool Five campaign by dismantling their hosts, who were in a generous mood defensively in a one-sided first half.

"We conceded 24 points in the first half and they did not have to work for a huge amount of those points," said Easterby.

"Any team where you conceded 24 points is going to be difficult, but a team like Clermont you dig a real big hole for yourself.

"It's frustrating. We just fed them too much in the first half. I think it was 70 per cent possession against and 70 per cent territory.

"We just need to be far more accurate. They scored off an intercept and fed off our mistakes. They are a quality outfit. We gave them too much of a headstart and gave them too much they didn't have to work for."

Rabo doesn't seem to hamper the Irish sides. Welsh club teams have no bottle and lack pride.

A pretty appalling campaign ,the Scarlets campaign this season has been terrible and tbh, they just where not worthy of a place in the competion. They have been that bad.Even Ospreys wherent worth their place imo,Solving the problem,a complete revamp of the Pro12 wouldnt be amiss, and the consolidation of the welsh regions ,and new ones started .So Ospreys-Scarlets combine and Cardiff-Newport combine,as completly new regional teams ,not based on any welsh club at all ,but using club stadia in their rgion ,so Lberty one week,Parc du Scarlet next ,Neaths the knoll iirc the following week ect,so it builds a proper fan base within its region..Same with the Cardiff-Newport team and the new ones in the north, and valleys /mid wales

Pretty appalling campaign for the Scarlets, Looking at the history of the great clubs that make up this side has anyone got a sensible answer to the problem ?

How about they quit the pathetic Rabo League and apply to join the Aviva Premiership.... some of the historical fixtures would be mouth watering, I've always felt that the loss of the big Anglo- Welsh fixtures at club level has been a shame.

As anb English club and country fan I've always had a great response when spectating in Wales... especially in the pub afterward.
