New role: Robertson replaces Matson
Scott Robertson has been appointed Canterbury's new head coach after Tabai Matson's move to an assistant coaching role with the Crusaders.
The former All Blacks loose forward helped guide Canterbury to a record fifth consecutive ITM Cup title this year, working as an assistant coach.
Robertson also spent the previous four years as the assistant forwards coach for Canterbury under Rob Penney's stewardship.
"It is an honour to take on the head coach role, especially following in the footsteps of such amazing coaches as Tabai Matson and Rob Penney," said Robertson.
"I am already looking forward to the 2013 season and I will be giving this role everything in an effort to see Canterbury's recent successes continue."
Robertson's playing career included playing in the Crusaders sides for the Super Rugby triumphs of 1998-2000 and in 2002, and being in the Canterbury sides that won the NPC first division title in 1997 and 2001.
He played 23 tests for the All Blacks, scoring four tries.
