Nathan Earle of Saracens is tackled LV Cup v Leicester Tigers

Ouch! Nathan Earle gets double teamed

Saracens got their LV= Cup campaign off to a winning start with a victory over title holders Leicester on Friday.

Morgan Allen's try two minutes from time earned Ospreys a thrilling win over Gloucester in a rollercoaster clash.

Cardiff fly-half Ceri Sweene grabbed the winning try as the Blues came from behind to end a six-game losing streak against Wasps.

Results:
Cardiff Blues 22 - 17 Wasps
Saracens 38 - 21 Leicester
Ospreys 33 - 27 Gloucester

Cardiff Blues 22 - 17 Wasps

The Blues has the last laugh in a thrilling, if error-strewn encounter as former coach Dai Young visited Cardiff.

Substitute fly-half Ceri Sweeney scored brilliant individual try to win the game, barging through three attempted tackles to touch down under the posts.

Wasps went into the break 14-7 ahead as Elliot Daly's try and three Tommy Bell penalties cancelled out Cardiff full-back Dan Fish's stunning early try.

Two tries in 11 minutes in the second half from Tom James and Sweeney secured the win.

Saracens 38 - 21 Leicester

Playing at Bedford Blues' Goldington Road, Sarries raced into a 30-0 lead thanks to tries from hooker Jamie George, centre Duncan Taylor and winger Joe Maddock.

Tigers rallied in the second half however and tries from Joe Cain and debutant number eight Michael Noone cut the deficit.

But Sarries openside Andy Saull's try in the 64th minute meant that Harry Thacker last minute try was no mere consolation.

Ospreys 33 - 27 Gloucester

Number eight Morgan Allen's last-gasp try saw a young Ospreys side prevail over Gloucester in a dramatic encounter at the Liberty Stadium.

The hosts had led 26-13 with eight minutes to go but a Dan Murphy score and a penalty try put the English team ahead with time running out.

But the Ospreys responded emphatically, driving Allen over the line to seal an excellent win.

Very interesting refereeing in the Ospreys game. Penalty for not binding in the scrum, when both props were. Then a warning to both sides about the next infringement resulting in a yellow card, but then only using that against the Ospreys. Gloucester had to commit 5 more penalties before it was shown, for an offence that should have resulted in a yellow card anway. Pathetic refereeing!
