Beale: Keen to have a crack at NRL

Wallabies and Rebels star utility back Kurtley Beale admitted he would like to cross codes and try his hand in the 13-man game.

The 24-year-old, always a popular figure with those who like to bet on rugby, was hooked to the idea after taking part in a two-hour training session with NRL side Melbourne Storm, saying he was a huge leage fan.

"It's always lingering in the back of my mind," said Beale, who is now being backed by bookmakers like Paddy Power to switch codes at the end of his current deal.

"I'm a massive fan of rugby league and I played it all my junior career and I'm always switching channels to watch it on the weekend.

"Hopefully later on, in the years to come, I will be able to put my hand up and have a crack at it."

Melkdave: A Queensland state Justice Department spokesman has confirmed that the Australian rugby union player's case would be heard on February the 6th. The Australian Rugby Union put on hold any disciplinary action against Beale until the police matter was resolved.

so appears was unable to reach settlement out of court.

Not sure we've ever really seen the best of him, at 24 should still have years of rugby (not league) ahead of him.

Mr Utility, I see his first match was on the wing, followed by fullback, centre, 10

Melkdave,

Hopefully Aus rugby will see his best before (or if) he goes - we are certainly due. This year against the Lions would be nice and then finish off in a blaze at the WC. Nothing to report from down here on the charge - in fact, it has been so well hushed that I'd completely forgotten about it.

Ah the lure of a better pay day, cant blame any player for wanting to maxs his earnings.Though he would be a big loss to the wallaby set up imo.Any news on his assult charge or has that been quitely dealt with, and swept under the carpet as usual.

It would be a pity and will give Trinats excuses for the years to come.

He would be a brilliant league player, he's almost made for it. Not that I'd like to see him go, but league is quite big in Australia isn't it? The more butch the better down there! They do love the tight shorts
