@ JeanLucJoinel - Au contraire, they'll be remembered for being the team that was IRB No1 for most of the last eight years and winning the majority of their matches rather than a team that spent 4 years excusing their results because they're "building for the RWC"..
Plus a coach with an 85% success record over 8 years.

The AB's have a knack of finding world class players in key positions. For open side who can forget Michael Jones and Josh Kronfield - I'm sure if Sir Ritchie runs out of puff we'll get someone else coming through the ranks!

Truckloads of talent coming through in NZ. I especially like the look of Sam Cane at openside and Kerr-Barlow at halfback. Plenty of depth in NZ to defend Old Bill in four years. Looking forward to it.

To all one-eyed Kiwis here.
I write what I think and it is usually right.
You should read all my posts before commenting, unless you want to listen how good you are full stop.
A summary of them.
AB's management top of the top.
New Zealand head and shoulders # 1 with DC, without DC still possibly # 1 but not so much.
SA blew their chances (if any) by adopting a too conservative game plan and they arrived at the crucial stage of the game with Oz with few (maybe one) weapons. The ref was not fair, but I expected the Boks not to be in a position of relying on a Kiwi ref's fairness.
Most of the ABs are among my favourite players. Among them, DC, a true gentleman and an ambassador for the game, a lad who you can only admire.
I put my money on NZ this year before the RWC (I put my money on the Boks in 2007), so I even made some money thanks to you.
Can I say now that you won the final through cheating and that McCaw was really disgusting in his continouos breaching of the laws? Yes, I can (there are many clips proving this), especially because I believe that NZ did not need to adopt that cynical tactics to win the game.
I enjoy good rugby even when it is played against the Boks.
Accept some criticism, it would help you in becoming even better.

McCaw will not make it to the next world cup! Sweet as though he has pretty much achieved everything possible....& impossible in rugby he he. He has had a superb career in possibly the most testing rugby position in rugby. However his longevity can simply be attributed to the fact the NZ loose forward trio work extremely well in tandem..(just like Frances) & to a lesser degree Ireland. Mccaw s game as you can see has changed! He is probably down on the list of the best fetchers in the world (Pocock,Broussow, warbutton) but overall is still the complete player. His game has probably slipped into a more hybrid 8,6,7 role. As to the next AB's 7...I will help you all out MARK these words people "SAM CANE" 19years old 191cm 107kgs & "LUKE WHITELOCK" 19yrs 192cm 104kgs..They will feature in the next world cup. Both super athletes still growing but not quiet Richies nous yet...keep your eyes on these two next year. Cheers

As an AB's supporter we have to start investing in backup for Dan and Richie immediately, imo we were very lucky (happily so) to scrape through in that final, Beaver heroics aside. Cruden has to get more International game time to develop his all round game and serious thinking around an adequate backup for Richie has to take place. Perhaps Todd has to be given a shot at the top but I can't see that happening with an incumbent world cup winning captain standing in the way. Unlike Wales, OZ, SA who all have young, dynamic world class opensiders, our stocks are raw on International experience. This need for utility players over specialists almost (excuse the pun) shot us in the foot, as it did for OZ re Pocock in the pools and SA losing Brussouw in the quarters.

Looking to 2015 already? The script will be as tough as, but different from, 2011. Which was:
"You'll have 12 test matches in 14 weeks, be on the toughest side of the draw, will need to beat your bogey team France twice, and will be down to your fourth-choice first-five. Believe you can do it?"

Who cares if King Richie is about in 4 years? I imagine it's not top of Richies list, I bet he would like too - but the most important thing is NOT the world cup - it's being part of the best All Black team they can be for every test. Game in, game out. Not every four years.
You can't help but admire the AB's for that.

@ NHsaints... you never really "replace" a Carter or a McCaw but, yes, Cruden looks like being a long-term successor (forget LM, most AB fans already have) & down in Chee-chee there's a bloke named Todd, you may recall some huffing & puffing when he happened to wander past an AB training run a couple of weeks back (& wouldn't you know it, he had his footy boots with him!) who looks like being next in line to McCaw. Read is captain-in-waiting any time Richie chooses to stand down or retire altogether.
I can't see Hansen making Wyllie's mistake & trying to go through a full 4-year cycle with essentially the same team and with talent like Cruden, Dagg & Guildford already coming through from U20 level & plenty more waiting in the wings (see Todd, above) he won't need to.

Nz don't really have a suitable replacement for their golden players yet though...not for McCaw or Carter... they're the best in their positions ever and I can't see ready talents to stand in...sure McAllister is good and cruden will be great but neither can replace carter yet and McCaw proved when he needed to most that he's the best openside ever...

my hope is that the ABs learn from history and look at their predecessors.... The ABs who came to defend the cup in 91 were not the team they were in 87. They were basically played out. How many of the team from 2011 will be able to perform at top level in 2015.... I also think the RWC is non retain able... It is too prized to be held by incumbents... With the greatest of respect I say that.... A team who holds it going into a tournament may even be at a disadvantage as there are plenty of would be pretenders snapping at their heels. And once you hold such a title for sucj a time, surely the edge must be lost.... whilst the hunger lies with the others......

RWC never successfully defended. Surely, if anyone can do it, the ABs can? Just keep hubris in check, and the rugby should take care of itself.....
That said, the road to RWC is littered with the carcasses of previous winners....or as Shelley put it, almost 200 years ago, much better than any of us....
"I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
¿My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!¿
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."
