@ Ramage
I watched a report from New Zealand about rugby in the various schools in Auckland and I think that NZ put together a very big effort for harmonising the society, and not just for the sake of rugby. They also interviewed the brother of Mealamu, who apparently has some senior role in high school rugby, and he explained how people originating from Samoa are grateful to NZ for giving them the opportunity of improving their life conditions and, at the same time, how they still feel like having emotional bonds with they "mother" country.
I fully believe that those people do have the right to wear the AB's jersey, and proudly.
I therefore disagree with some comments suggesting that NZ poach people and players from neighbouring countries

@ TheRoof and others comparing ABs and Boks record.
You have to consider that we are plagued by "weird" selection policy, which costed many games, especially during November tours.
The approach to the 3N 2010 was suicidal.
But congratulations to ABs for their record and for the way they succeed in taking seriously every game.

Indeed. In addition, it is not true that I dislike New Zealand. Just the contrary. Still think that McCaw pushed the limit a bit too much. In the process, I am not suggesting that NZ were undeserving winners.
And I am interested in knowing how you will replace Woodcock, Mealamu, Thorn, Williams, McCaw, Weepu, Nonu and Smith (even DC). They will be all above 32 come the next RWC and likely unfit for the challenge.

By the way BokVan Dam still waiting for that list of NZers who aren't NZers as you claim you have been noted for not turning up with it lol . Always plenty to say when you wish to talk opinions but missing on facts.

@ KiwiRooster... I'm convinced that your "99% of the refereeing body make for 1% of the nations present in the RWC" theory has Nobel Prize for Mathematics written all over it, you just need to explain it to the likes of me (dumb-ass kiwi doing his bit for the average IQ of Australasia by living in Brizzy for a while) in words we can understand so we can start lobbying the Committee on your behalf.
@ blametheref... at least bvd & others have the balls to say what they think, so enlighten us: is the vid real or not? If yes then answer the same question bvd & others have ignored - why did no French player or official at the time, nor any since, say "The kick missed! We've been robbed!"
Next, you or any other conspiracy nut may care to explain (1) who masterminded the rigging of RWC '11 (2) why they bothered (3) who the co-conspirators were (4) why no potential co-conspirator said "hang on, this ain't right" & blew the whistle & (5) why no co-conspirator has subsequently added to pile of cash #1 by revealing, exclusively, anonamously & for a fee of course, their part in the conspiracy.

It happens at Twickenham. Alot.

Carpelone, Joubert is the best ref in the world and did a great job in the final. If you watch most rucks in a game you will see players from both teams off their feet, slowing the ball and entering from the side. Watch the final and concentrate only on the French and you will see offences at nearly every ruck.
It could be that you are right - OR, that the experts in the laws of the game (Referees) are correct and McCaw plays it just right. I wonder which one it could be?

These blogs are getting stranger and stranger. There are some seriously deluded people out there.....carpalone, kiwi rooster, jeanluclionel to name a few.
NZ 8/ France 7, and if some of you care to take off your funny coloured glasses and watch the final, you will see that NZ deserved to win that game by 1 point.
It's about time that the "Mccaw is a cheat" line was given a rest once and for all.
It is probably jealousy that he doesn't play for some other team that is the root cause of all the bile. Get over it!

@blametheref... that youtube clip is digitally altered (you can see the messed up frames)... I still have the original HD footage recorded live on my DVR and went back and looked at it really hard last week... mainly because during the game I thought it missed also... but fortunately the officials did get it right... it clearly passes in front on the upright and goes through

@ KiwiRooster "99% of the refereeing body make for 1% of the nations present in the RWC"... not sure how broadly you define refereeing body (TMO? the bloke who keeps time on blood- & sin-binnings?) but I do know there were 20 nations & that 1% of 20 is 0.2 so there goes half your equation (I suspect the other half is fiction also but, like I say, need to know your definition of ref'ing body first).
By "referees deserve" RWC '11 it's obvious which matches you're talking about but which one(s) do you mean in '95? If just the SA/Fra SF then you really mean "ref deserves" not "ref's deserve" don't you? If there are other matches you believe were rigged to help SA win the Cup, which?

@bigb69
Being former proffesional player I often get those knacky feelings about great players whom have the misfortune to fly under the coat-tails of even greater players..i.e Mckaw-Holah, DC-Evans...We have seen examples throughout Nz's recent rugby history (fox/botica)..I definately agree that Luke & Todd'y are indeed ready to play AB's rugby now and both are class and quality...but I have seen just enough snippets of Sam Cane to think that boy has that "phenom" in the making. I will qauntify this statement by the last time I had a similar "vibe" I had attended an under 19's match between Oz & Nz in 2002..McCaw had an absolute blinder! All the crew around me were blown away by his performance..(nuff said). As to our mate CARPELONE let him speak do not condemn him for his views! We need to accept the fact that as much as we love our team! Some people do NOT!! the conjecture & debate he inspires is enough to keep us honest & thoughtful about the sport we follow and enjoy. We cant be to blamed for having the AWESOMIST team hehe..Of course we will be percieved as being arrogant and 1-eyed (because we are) as thats what we deserve for having one of the greatest team brands in sport. Human nature to loath the best..albeit with grudging respect! hehe.

I have to say well done to NZ they were the best team over the tournament and the last 4 years for that matter. I did feel that France actually edged the final but its the score that counts. One thing that did irk me slightly was the constant booing from the crowd especially when kicks at goal were being lined up. This doesn't happen anywhere else (as far as i know) and it certainly doesn't happen in europe. No need for it really.

To all New Zealanders bristling with idignation at any slight to their World Cup winning team,
I have one question: can you honestly say that you you have not made similar remarks about at least one of the previous World Cup winners?
I certainly recall lots of comments about South Africa and England "not deserving" their world cups. And who can forget the "Suzie" nonsense which was such an embarassment on the New Zealand nation.
The same goes for McCaw - dont get so precious about him when you are so willing to insult the efforts of other international players. As a nation you must be really proud of the treatment that Quade Cooper got. He might be an idiot, but this is rugby not football.

@KiwiRooster Not to ruffle your feathers but is there a point to your post?
You see, rugby was born, "with a fine disregard for the rules", by, dare I say, the cheating antics of one William Webb Ellis. One could argue that the origin of rugby is still in the spirit of the game. A stretch it would seem but no less wacky than your statements.
Was Webb Ellis the prototype jackal of his day?
