Ospreys ease fears over duo's injuries

Close to full fitness: Adam Jones

The Ospreys have moved to ease worries over the fitness of tighthead prop Adam Jones and openside flanker Justin Tipuric.

Jones started his first game of the season in Saturday's 34-16 win over Zebre but was replaced after 4 minutes with a heavily strapped knee.

Tipuric, who is expected to challenge for a spot in Wales' back row this season, did not see any action against Zebre due to a problematic hip.

The Wales duo are crucial for the Ospreys' Heineken Cup challenge this season and their campaign kicks off against Treviso this weekend.

Jones has been struggling with his knee injury since hurting it at training last month.

But Ospreys skills coach Gruff Rhys said both players are close to full fitness and could be in action in Friday night's Heineken Cup clash at the Liberty Stadium.

"Adam had a little bit of aggravation in his knee and he just needs to work his way through that," he told Walesonline.

"Its nothing to worry about and we have an able replacement in Aaron Jarvis

"Justin trained this morning by himself and is doing fine.

"If it had been a Cup final last weekend we might have pushed him.

"There is a far better chance of him facing Treviso by missing that game."
