Sean Cronin: Scored one of Leinster's six tries

Three quickfire tries in the final 15 minutes secured a comfortable 42-13 PRO12 victory for Leinster against local rivals Ulster.

It took 18 minutes for the first points of the match to be posted, and they came courtesy of a Leinster try from Fionn Carr. Fergus McFadden added the extras.

The home side went further ahead less than ten minutes later, when an excellent break from Luke Fitzgerald led to a try for Sean Cronin, again converted by McFadden.

That made it 14-0, but Ulster reduced the deficit through two James McKinney penalties. Leinster extended their lead on stroke of half-time though when, with the defence asleep, Leo Auva'a powered through the defensive line from the scrum and crashed over next to the posts. McFadden added the extras.

Ulster began the second half in a much more positive manner and got the early score they needed to force their way back in to the game.

The ball was worked right before Chris Cochrane crashed on to a flat pass and marauded through the Leinster defence to score. McKinney added the conversion to reduce the deficit to nine.

But then, following a period of intense Leinster pressure, a penalty try was awarded following a scrum collapse on the Ulster line. McFadden add the extras, making it 28-13 with little over ten minutes remaining.

Leinster already had the bonus point in the bag, but they piled on more misery when Ian Madigan scythed through the tiring Ulster defence for a try, and hammered the final nail in the coffin when Jamie Hagan barged over. McFadden added both conversions.

as this has come up, rte commentary and analysis was abysmal. George Hook needs to call it a day. Ulster were the ones who were flatteredby the score line. Leinster were never in trouble

irfu "player welfare programme" strikes again. if you believe that the national team is paramount (which i don't) then you can't really complain about this, can you

also, ulster's cows are coming home to roost now. no teams in the AIL 1st division - this is the best they can do. what on earth are they going to do when the new rules are implemented

The scoreline was a bit flattering and we have to give credit to Ulster for their defensive effort (part from the final 15-20min). Also what a great debut for Ali Birch who looks to be the deal for the following years. Hopefully he can get some more gametime.
