Eleven points: Jonathan Sexton

Leinster put in a performance worthy of reigning champions on Sunday as they claimed a bonus-point in 38-13 victory over Glasgow at the RDS.

The holders took 39 minutes to wrap up all five points in Dublin in what was a much-improved showing than their effort against Montpellier.

Rob Kearney scored their first try while Gordon D'Arcy claimed the one that mattered just before the interval. However, it was Brian O'Driscoll's understudy, Eoin O'Malley, who stole the show with a brace of scores from outside centre.

Victory propels Leinster above the Warriors to become Pool 3 leaders before their rivals Bath and Montpellier meet at the Recreation Ground.

Glasgow had started the game strongly and in fact took the lead when 20-year-old fly-half Duncan Weir opened the scoring with the first of his two penalties on Sunday. But back came Leinster, who were enjoying home field advantage, with Jonathan Sexton putting in a smart cross-field dink to Isa Nacewa who in turn offloaded inside to grateful recipient Kearney.

Sexton added the conversion before his penalty goal sailed through the uprights.

Then came the ten-minute spell that decided where this result was going as, with Devin Toner in the sin-bin for pulling down Al Kellock, Leinster were the side who took the ascendancy. They scored fourteen points to three against Glasgow despite being a man down, the passage seeing youngster O'Malley become the star of the show with both tries.

His midfield partner then put the seal on the points with a minute remaining until half-time as the Warriors could not cope with their hosts' running angles and power in the pack. It was mission accomplished for a free-flowing Leinster going into the dressing room.

Upon the turnaround it was always going to be something of a let-down with both sides knowing what the end result would be in Dublin. And it was in fact a decent defensive workout for Leinster in the second 40 minutes as they utilised all of their bench and showed real grit until the 74th minute when their whitewash was not kept intact due to replacement Henry Pyrgos scoring, putting Glasgow into double digits that offered scant consolation.

But Leinster were not done as with time up on the clock, they refused to put the ball out and ultimately had the final say when Isaac Boss juggled an inside pass before going in under the posts. Ian Madigan converted with a drop-kick to cap an impressive team performance.

very happy with this display. o'malley looks very much at home in the 13 channel unlike mcfadders who is a natural winger. our squad depth is really coming to the fore. carr, ruddock and madigan were promising when they came on - and we still have drico, shaggy and berquist to come back eventually. anything less than 9 points against bath in december will be a real disappointment

Where the hell did Kearney's running game come from? Somebody taught him how to run during his time off. Didn't think that would ever happen Very happy to see it.

@pogmahon Heaslip was never off form. He has transformed his game and has been playing the grunt game very well this year. Thankfully, both the Irish and Leinster coaches recognise and appreciate this, in spite of what you read from fools on rugby fora, who do not understand the game. Deserved MOTM today.

Encouraging game all round. Delighted with O'Malley. The only odd thing is that it took an injury for the guy who is the natural replacement for BOD to get his game. Hopefully, he keeps his place now.
