Ulster s Tom Court left is tackled by Edinburgh

On the rampage: Tom Court

Ulster claimed a second bonus-point win in as many weeks with a 42-20 Pro12 victory over Edinburgh at Murrayfield on Friday.

Ian Humphreys slotted two penalties to hand Ulster a 6-0 lead after 12 minutes, but Edinburgh responded with the first try of the night when Nick De Luca pounced on a loose ball from the re-start.

Greig Laidlaw converted and added a penalty to give Edinburgh a short-lived lead.

Ruan Pienaar was given the responsibility of kicking at goal following a game-ending injury to Humphreys and the South African's first penalty brought Ulster back to within a point of the hosts.

Ulster then hit Edinburgh with a two-try burst, Rory Best crossing for the first and Dan Tuohy adding a second after a smart counter-attack - again straight from the re-start.

Pienaar was unable to land either of his conversion attempts and Laidlaw's penalty on the stroke of half-time made it 13-19 at the interval.

Ulster were fastest out of the blocks in the second half, scoring thirteen unanswered points thanks to two penalties and a try from Andrew Trimble with the conversion from Pienaar.

Replacement hooker Alan Walker barged his way over after loose play at the line-out from Ulster for his maiden try for Edinburgh to give the Scots a lifeline. Laidlaw converted.

But another needless penalty by Edinburgh, successfully kicked by Pienaar, quickly nipped any thoughts of a comeback in the bud.

Great play on the counter attack from replacement half-back Paul Marshall created Ulster's fourth and final try, Darren Cave going over on 75 minutes, before Pienaar applied the final touch with his fourth penalty a minute from time.

Can't complain, Edinburgh didn't really turn up. Set piece poor and the Ulster defence was impressive. That guy Marshall caused the Gunners terrible problems when he came on, Ulster looked a better proposition with him at 9 and Pienaar at 10. Hopefully Edinburgh saving themselves for Racing Metro!
