Now that the dust has settled in Rome, Cardiff and Paris, Planet Rugby has finally settled on its Team of Round Five AND XV of the Championship.
Before we get to our final weekly pick, let us first give you our Six Nations XV of the Championship. Selection for this side was based on totting up the numbers from past Team of the Weeks in 2013.
Without further ado, here comes our offering - be sure to send in your own 15-1 team selections.
Team of Round Five
15 Leigh Halfpenny (Wales) - Kicked well off the tee, returned with interest in yet another solid performance at the back for his country. We recall just one mistake being made from the number fifteen in a no nonsense performance that takes him clear of his British and Irish Lions rivals.
14 Alex Cuthbert (Wales) - Finished the Six Nations as top try-scorer on four, two of those coming at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday. Mike Brown will want to forget Cuthbert's first score but in truth, many an opposition would have struggled to stop this potent finisher. It is worth mentioning he is also top try-scorer in the Heineken Cup, despite being in a Cardiff Blues side that won just one of their five Pool games.
13 Jonathan Davies (Wales) - Up against England's main threat, Davies more than held his own alongside Jamie Roberts. Both were solid to give Mr Gatland a welcome headache to battle with over whether to choose Tuilagi, Davies or Brian O'Driscoll in the Test series.
12 Wesley Fofana (France) - He played every minute of every game this Six Nations, two of those matches being out of position. But since moving back into number twelve, Fofana has been superb. His try against Scotland in the wet of Paris on Saturday oozed class.
11 George North (Wales) - Growing into a high class international wing. Amazingly still only 20 years old, Wales again have themselves a quality player wearing their eleven jersey.
10 Dan Biggar (Wales) - It is always good to see someone silence their critics and boy has Biggar done that in the past few weekends. He's gained in confidence over this Six Nations Championship and his drop-goal and all-round organisation proved just that in Cardiff.
9 Mike Phillips (Wales) - Seemed to salivate over the title decider and definitely got the better of Ben Youngs. He made 65 metres, beating three defenders, while his big hit on Geoff Parling made a statement. Thankfully he mixed the physical with quick service.
8 Sergio Parisse (Italy) - At the core of Italy's stellar championship, Parisse constantly lives up to his billing. Italy's top metre maker with 82 against Ireland and by some distance, Parisse did it all - winning line-outs and causing Ireland problems on the deck. It has been one of his better Six Nations, which in many ways tells you everything about Italy's success. Credit to Toby Faletau and Tom Wood.
7 Justin Tipuric (Wales) - Outstanding. Made his mark in a Wales shirt on the biggest of stages, proving that whilst renowned for his work at the breakdown he also has a significant turn of pace. Left Mike Brown spinning for Cuthbert's try and combined well with Sam Warburton. Now a contender to start for the Lions.
6 Sam Warburton (Wales) - The number of people queuing up to apologise to Warburton should just about stretch around the Millennium Stadium. Since coming back into the side against Scotland, the Blues flanker has been electric. Ten tackles against England and the initial burst for Cuthbert's second score dictated the game, along with four line-out takes and plenty of metres made.
5 Geoff Parling (England) - One positive for England on a tough afternoon. Parling has improved on a game-by-game basis and deserves to start for the Lions against Australia based on his current form. There was little left in the legs by the end, but after 18 tackles, a fine break and crucial turnovers in the first half, the Leicester lock can hold his head high.
4 Quintin Geldenhuys (Italy) - Close competition here for the Italian from Welsh lock Ian Evans, but Geldenhuys was a rock for the Azzurri against Ireland, capping a good championship with another solid defensive showing and doing his bit at the breakdown. Combined well with second-row partner Joshua Furno.
3 Adam Jones (Wales) - Ruthlessly took apart Joe Marler on his side of the scrum and sent a message to Lions rival Dan Cole over on the other. Showed little respite when Mako Vunipola arrived later on as Wales won nine penalties in total at the scrum. A world-class performance from a player who many have tried to sign over the years. Also made his share of tackles.
2 Richard Hibbard (Wales) - A late contender for the Lions hooker slot. Hibbard, a son of Ospreylia, has made his name in this Six Nations and will now certainly tour to face the Wallabies. Against England he was bullish, carrying into double figures and difficult to contain. Only one stolen line-out to boot.
1 Gethin Jenkins (Wales) - Captain for the day, Jenkins had one of his best games in recent memory. He dominated Cole, which not many people can say they have done in his fledgling international career, and led by example in the loose. After an unhappy season with Toulon in the Top 14, this was just reward for man set to return to Cardiff.

@sneggy1983 - what a weird comment. Since when has a loosehead been distinguished by their skill at turnovers? Props are there to scrummage, anything else is an added bonus. Dan Cole is a damn fine scrummager he was simply outfoxed on the day by a player (and front row) who were better at conning the referee than he was.

BOD, Heaslip , Best played well on sat? I must have watched a different game. AWJ should be there not Parling.
the main job for a tight head is to scrummage not to go round the pitch winning turnovers. Thats what your loose head and back row are for and some centres not a tight head.Adam Jones is the best tight head in world rugby without a doubt. Maybe Cole should concentrate on being a loose if his strongest attribute is his tunrovers

Cant argue with the guts of the team coming from the valleys - but honestly, England were poor, and I certainly wouldn't be too confident for the lions if this is how the first 15 turn out.
All said and done it was a very poor 6 nations, and especially disappointing that the Irish didnt turn up other than thrashing Wales for 40 minutes.

This is for all the idiots out their including you who have seemed to convince yourself adams work rate isn't very good.
You use pathetic excuses that were used years ago and yes they were right years ago as adam wasn't the best around the park.
But times gone by and know hiw work rate is up there with gethin. Look at the stats they don't lie.
I just can't see why people hate it that we have the best props in the world and no one likes it. When england had the likes of leonard i admitted that england had great props. But people are pathetic by saying adam has a rubbish work rate.
You know nothing.
please please please look at the stats.

@Chubbylugs I agree with that, not to mention his early and/or illegal binding might get caught out as well...that's not to say he can't scrummage well anyway but Cole is amongst the best tightheads in the world and is like a 7 over the ball. But that aside that's a fairly decent reflection from the weekend bar Zanni probably deserving to be 6. @deprop you're an idiot of the highest order, Geoff Parling has been absolutely outstanding since he first hit the test stage, try watching a game before you comment.

Can't argue that this team should be pretty much 1-15 Welsh!
I'm also hoping that the Lions selection will be heavily Welsh - England need as many players available for Argentina to regroup and build against tough opposition!

@ mayhem because by default the aussies will do all they can not to get into a scrummaging contest, so why pick a someone to just scrummage. cole didnt become a bad prop after one game. he's been one of the best tightheads around for the past 2/3 years

Parling ! Don't make me larf. No English player deserves to be in this team. Same with the Irish although with a full squad who knows what might have been. But Wales were brilliant and should be picked 1-15.

Not sure I'd keep Parisse in this week's team. I love the guy but his silly reflex could have costed a lot - that is, had Ireland opened their eyes, happily for Italy it never happened.

How can Zanni be out of this selection is something I can't understand. He's better than Parisse, imo.

@Uchach
Exactly....what about the other games...anyone did read some stats this round?
Zanni was once again and absolutely the best in his position.
Mind that Italy had a perfect line-out % mostly because of him and Ghiraldini...he should be picked over Hibbard who at the trow is still raw.
Alan Wyn Jones should be there instead of Parling.
McLean had a great game and should be there over North who was good but not brilliant once again.
Bastareaud too over Davis...he was really good against the Scottish backline.

Ah great. A bad game from England and now everyone is bitching on the Welsh. I'd have 13 Welsh + Parisse and Fofana at 13.

@chubbylugs,
Jones earns the right for the backs to find the tryline, ie, he does his job. Whats the point of a more mobile cole if you cant even guarantee 1st phase attack from a scrum? Its a Welsh front row down under for me.

Ghiraldini instead of Hibbard. The Italian hooker was outstanding.

Both Adam Jones and George North have done superbly in defence throughout the entire tournement bah the first 40 minutes of the first game when the entire team stank the stadium out. It was only a tap tackle that stopped him scoring against England too,.. I think he did well... not the best out there, but reliable, dependable, and lots of other words that sound like they end in ible... Adam is always going to reach for the oxygen on the way to the fridge but he is a world class scrummiger and proved that again this year... also a difficult lump to clean out of a ruck I noticed on Saturday.
