No chance of him going yet...I agree that 12 championships in a row playing as well and as hard as BOD does has to take its toll so after a decent rest we should hopefully see him back to his best (maybe resting during easier games to give McFadden his replacement some game time)

Huge leinster fan here and I really think the maximum he should continue playing is the end of the november internationals. By the time your body tells you it's time to retire it is already too late.

Wow, so many so quick to turn on the great O' Driscoll who scored 3 tries in last years 6 Nations, was a pivotal part of a HC winning team and scored in the WC even though he was selected by Kidney (BOD doesn't pick the team) to play in the WC even though Kidney knew he was carrying an injury...Though I would like to see him retire at the top I totally respect O' Driscoll's view that he is the best person to decide when he should call it a day...BOD's track record will show that when he comes back from injury he always plays brilliant...I believe his swansong is still to come as he's still the best 13 in the home nations...

I'm a Wales supporter so have no axe to grind here, but BOD's clearly been playing injured for a while now and with the physicality of the game today that can't help but affect performance. He's also had all non-Leinster supporters on his back. First time in 12 years he's missed a 6 Nations and at time he's carried that Irish team on his shoulders. The guy just needs a rest and you'll see him come back next season close to his best. Sure he's over 30, but experience makes up a lot on that. BOD's a world class player who has proven time and again that he can make something out of nothing and that ability has saved Ireland's bacon on many, many occasions and will again, I feel certain. It's a player's right to decide whether he retires or not but if not, why shouldn't BOD play his best, put his hand up and hope he's still good enough for his club and his country? He has always been and still is a class player and a proud representative of his country and good luck to him, say I.

@maria14

All Leinster fans said ROG "won't be around in 2015"? Sure about that? I'd hope that neither BOD or ROG are up for selection... That wouldn't be good at all for Irish rugby. Anyway, are you really an Irish fan? He is not the reason Ireland were knocked out and you seem to lack the respect most Irish fans would have for him. Also, you seem to have a short memory regarding Sexton. He has proved himself a very able kicker at international level, bar a bad world cup, and at HC level. Maybe you just aren't a Leinster fan...

i seem to called a mr sexton on rome last year cracking under loads of pressure, only for ROG to come on save his bacon but kicking a winning drop goal. also sexton is not an international kicker his states are worse than tobby flood!! sexton does not even kick for leinster yet for vital 6N game we irish have to pray he makes each kick.... with ROG you are garanteed it will biset the post :)

brian coming next year is only to inflate his own north side ego, retire let the great and the better take over :)

It'll be a sad day when this man hangs them up. As too, Ronan O'Gara but papachinzo is right.

The Differance:

ROG has been replaced.

BOD is Irreplacable.

papachinzo says...

@Maria14 The only reason people are asking O'Gara to hang up his boots is because there is someone there to replace him, someone a lot better than he is.

No on can replace O'Driscoll...

to quote the all leinster fans commenting on ROG's inclusion in the ireland set-up, "he wont be around in 2015" same applies to BOD or god if you from leinster!!! he should just hang up he boots and let mcfadden or earls take over, he as nothing to add but a team talk!! he is reason ireland dropped out of the WC, playing if an iffy shoulder, very selfish :( bboo
