Ireland v England Mike Brown Rob Kearney

Thanks O'Shea: Brown

England full-back Mike Brown has paid tribute to club boss Conor O'Shea for helping him return to the international setup following a four-year absence.

The 27-year-old, who has been one of the most consistent players in the Aviva Premiership over recent seasons, currently wears 11 for England.

And the in-form Brown has revealed that his return to international colours has been a long road that rugby director O'Shea assisted him on throughout.

"Conor promised me I'd get back in the England team if I stuck with Quins," he told BBC London 94.9.

"When he turned up I was coming to the end of my contract and wasn't sure whether I'd stay. He has been working hard with me on what I can improve on."

"He is a great mentor to have. He has been there and done it for Ireland.

"He is easy to talk to when I need to and is great to have someone who played the same position as me to bounce ideas off.

"He is so positive and easy to talk to."

O'Shea has taken the english domestic scene by the scuff of the neck and given the other 11 clubs an almighty slapping until they've raised their game from the money making grinder to something that's given us three eurocup quarter-finalists.

English rugby owes him a debt becasue he's put rugby first in a culture thats been about all about gate takings and profit margins for way too long. What a wonderful, positive influence he is.
