Sale Sharks have sacked their forwards coach Steve Scott following their winless start to the new Premiership season.
The club announced the former Scotland international hooker's departure with immediate effect on Sunday.
Despite an ambitious off-season recruitment drive, Sale have lost all four games so far this term and sit stone last in the standings.
Reports in the English press claim that Sale boss Steve Diamond called the backroom staff into a meeting following Friday's loss to London Welsh, with the net result being Scott's exit.
Diamond will coach the forwards in the short term whilst a replacement is sought.
"Our results have been poor so far and we decided that we needed to change the coaching structure within the club," said Diamond.
"We have started the process of finding a replacement to coach the forwards and whilst that process takes place I will be assisting (Head Coach) Bryan Redpath prepare the players for the foreseeable future."
"I would like to place on record my thanks to Steve Scott who has worked hard in his role and always given 100 percent. I wish him all the best in the future," added Diamond.
Redpath was scathing in his assement of his players' performance on Friday, which ended with the team booed at the full-time whistle.
"There weren't any plus marks really as most of our game wasn't up to speed," said Redpath.
"You can't hide behind that performance tonight because, as a group, it wasn't good enough.
"It let a lot of people down that came along tonight. We need to find out why, but there's not many answers coming out at the moment. We really need to look hard in the mirror and see why that happened tonight as that wasn't acceptable at all.
"I don't want to take any credit away from London Welsh. They came up here, played a simple game, got in front and stuck at it. I can understand the frustration and accept it, but we have to take that responsibility when the fans booed us off the pitch and that is something we obviously never want to happen again. I apologise to every Sale supporter. They pay good money to watch and I will be doing my utmost to rectify that."
