Oh dear, oh dear.
Yes, the Heineken Cup is the best rugby tournament in the world. The Aviva Premiership is the best rugby tournament in the world. Twickenham is the best rugby ground in the world, Wimbledon is the best tennis tournament in the world, Wembley is the best football ground in the world, the Premiership is the best football tournament in the world, the FA Cup is the best football knockout in the world, Badminton is the best eventing event in the world, Lord's is the best cricket ground in the world, your beer is the best in the world (even though most of you drink foreign lagers brewed under licence) ...
Do we recognise a pattern here? Lol, we know how this goes. We've heard it all before.

I was defending all NH rugby not just England. I'm well aware that it's team GB winning medals not just England!! The buzz of the Heineken Cup is amazing and the folks from Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France and Italy that we meet year in year out make it the game I love. You carry on posing and posturing we'll enjoy the Craic as the Irish say.

@ Johnny_Guitar... as if you should even need reminding, but it's Great Britain that is winning all the medals, not just England... remember it also includes people from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It's not surprising the English are so unpopular sometimes with an attitude like that.

@Johnny Guitar. Loving yr work man.
English and European club rugby are streets ahead of similar competitions. The Prem is the best contest in the world with real pressure. Where is the promotion/relegation in Super Rugby? So no real pressure then! Trips to Munster, Paris, Cardiff are some of the best days out available to Rugby fans anywhere in the world. And where do all the SH players want to come in between World Cups? Europe of course!

Not sure I know where some of this vitriol regarding England comes from. Some of the SH just seem to have a huge chip on their shoulders about England. Get over it! I enjoy my rugby and I enjoy supporting my local town who happen to be quite good. Good enough for Wayne Smith to coach, Buck Shelford to play for, Pat Lam to play for, i don't need to go on with the list. Of course many will come over for a bit of a pay day after finishing their international career that is so obvious it's hardly worth talking about. Go drink your rubbish beer and tell yourself you are the best, i'll stick with European rugby with all it's differences, colour and great weekends away!

Nothing to do with not being fit enough for the Premiership (Armchair- I detect your tone!) We (Saints) need a player who can contribute for the whole season and I've read so many comments about how injury prone this chap is from Aussie fans. Don't judge our rugby against your own as it's very different. I personally love our set-up with loads of local sides and we English won't be going regional any time soon, we'll get by i'm sure.
Anyway got to get back to the Olympics and count our medals ;)) I think we've won more medals than Aus, NZ, SA and Arg put together!! so we know a bit about sport.

@ste490
I think the Saints have made a very wise decision not to sign him, I have watched him over the years, he's probably one of the better players at the Force, but then again he is playing for the weakest of all the Aussie teams, more importantly though he is a glass man and cant seem to go more than 5 games without picking some kind of injury and I think this is the reason why he wont be playing for the Saints.

Well, ste490, the solution is simple. Develop your own players and stop scouting overseas.
This is tough on Shepherd, but no great surprise.

Hmm. Saints made the same decision over Joe Van Niekerk a couple of years ago and look how that turned out! Hope we haven't done it again.
