What an absolute joke!
If I were L Welsh or the C Pirates, I wouldn't bother lacing up my boots for the match.

PLEASE PLEASE Let this be the end of the English Media and Supportors Spouting Utter BS about the threat of relagation as being the main reason the Premiership plays a safety first style of rugby.
As I said in previous posts the Cornish Pirates and London Welsh should apply to join their Celtic Cousins and the Italians in the Rabo Pro 12 (14) league. I think it would really add something to the league.

shocking!
what is the point of the championship and lower divisions. what is the message the RFU are sending out to clubs outside the premiership.
if only leeds and bristol meet the right standards to enter the premiership then it would make sense to scrap relegation and treat the premiership like the super 15 with the championship effectively becoming a whole seperate competition like in SA and NZ. without the fear of relegation would the premiership then become a faster more exciting competition?

Not shocked but definitely appalled. Disgusting sham of a system, highlighted by the fact Newcastle continued recruiting in a manner that can only suggest they have been aware of this fact for some time. Newcastle have dodged bullets at the tail end of the season for years and finally took one, only for it to be rendered insignificant. I wonder if this would be afforded to a club who didn't give the RFU such a wide geographical base?

What a Joke ! Newcastle will be chuffed and to be honest with their new manager and signings they will be much more competitive next year and its better for everyone that they stay up as the welsh or pirates would get throughly smashed week in and week out.
As far as relegation next year i think alot of teams will be on a level playing field, with wasps also being a completely different team. Worcester will probably be my pick to go down but i am starting to worry about the mediocraty of my team Bath it wouldn't massively surprise me to see us around the basement.

what a joke, there might aswell not even be relegation or promotion if they can't get a suitable stadium, why can't these teams just move stadium or expand? surely they know this would happen before they got to the final?

What a ridiculous mess!
Would Cornish Pirates or London Welsh be more entertaining than Newcastle? If so then promote them.
Minimum standards are good, but there is no point having great facilities if no one wants to watch the dire rugby on offer.

Not sure how the deal works - surely, if the the primacy of tenure issues can be resolved at Madjeski and Vicarage Road, then they can be resolved at the Kassam.
My worry over all of this is that, with the feverish recruitment going on at Newcastle this was a done deal before the audit.
