@Norm

Don't even take the bait about Jonsey2's comment that Kearney wouldn't even be rated in the top 10 world full backs, when you hear these kinds of comments eminating from some, "as long as it's SH" supporters one can always count on it being a compliment to the player they are spewing bile on...I could bet that the majority of the 80,000 fans who will be at Twickenham next week would disagree with him, and Brad Thorn too; and I could also bet that Jonsey2 was shitting himself in the last quarter of the World Cup Final when The All Blacks were up against a NH team that were generally believed to be "not a team" and below par and where NZ needed a little dig-out from the ref to actually raise the trophy...

I wasn't aware that one was able to refer to "John Hayes" without using the word "Big" first.

Better than his previous best in 2009, because he's now attacking rather than kicking as a first option, and looking lethal when he does - Leinster and Ireland's standout player by a mile this year.

Was a tough call but I would have gone for Ferris - despite being a Kearney and Leinster fan. Great to see Kearney have such a good season though. No idea why ROG was shortlisted - way off the performance of the other two shortlisted candidates (and a host of others).

Could not have been anyone other than Ferris and Kearney in the running for this and fair play, based on his sheer brilliance this decision is absolutely spot on. Kearney is not back to his Lions-esque best, he is streets ahead of where he was then!

One position we maybe can nudge the honours in NZ is FB. Hope Dagg lines up for the ABs what a battle that would be! And in all objectivity the way Kearney is playing, there is no one better wearing 15 in the world this year!

'Unsung hero' will always go to the forgotten utility forward, right?

There must also be a backlog of 'excellence' medals after this year.
