@ indy
I live in Rome.
I am starting seeing kids playing some rugby in the parks. The competition with football is still huge however.

It is not negativity, some players need to focus on their tasks without taking decisions for the squad. It would not be a demotion. During crucial stages of the games, he tends to take the wrong decision because he follows his fighting spirit (going to touch instead of kicking for instance). He is also inclined to argue with referees. World class player, agreed.

I can't believe the negativity towards Parisse. Talk of taking the captaincy from him or even leaving him out altogether. The guy was MOM in all bar 1 of Italy's games in the 6N earlier this year and is almost invariably Italy's best player even when they get heavily beaten. To me he is probably the best captain in Europe and probably the best No.8 in the world! Just a pity the rest of his team aren't half as good as he is.

Who agrees to relieve Parisse from the Captaincy's burden?

@ MarcoP
I would just love to see Giulio Rubini back in a light blue jersey but he's too injury prone IMHO.
@ alextron
I totally agree with you, Bergamasco needs to be left out. He's too old and not reactive enough for a modern back row. Derbyshire should get more game time.

Just Look at Treviso. They are playing very well, with un inspiring Burton at n10. He got to be in the national team. As for youngsters I would keep the Pratichetti brothers (specially Andrea), Furno looks pretty promising and Sgarbi. Prop Rizzo is also playing pretty good.

Start introducing the youngsters i think, pace is desperately needed, and a couple of fresh strong forwards and with the players coming through it looks promising(i hope) . First Job for Brunel is to phase out Mauro Bergamasco and Salvatore Perugini, past their best , and have a habit of killing potential flowing rugby on the offence , very frustating when more points could be added to the scoreboard.

I drop mine.
Masi
Toniolatti
Benvenuti
Bergamasco/Sgarbi
McLean (at last, a left wing who can kick with the left foot)
Tebaldi / Burton (Tebaldi is just what I would do, as he can kick and organise the backline)
Gori / Semenzato
Parisse
Barbieri / Favaro
Zanni (Captain)
Furno
Bortolami
Castro
Ghiraldini
Cittadini (not sure if he can play LH).

Perugini, Ghilardini, Castrogiovanni, Geldenhuys, Furno, Zanni, Derbyshire,
Parisse, Semenzato, Burton, Benvenuti, Sgarbi, M. Pratichetti, Vendetti, Masi.
I agree with Canale and Mi Bergamasco both have done a great day for Italy but Mirco seems to have lost a yard of pace he used to be dangerous with ball in hand before he started goal kicking. Italy need a fresh side, one that doesn't carry the scars from previous campaigns but needs a bit of experience too. Burton has to start at 10. Does anyone know what's happened to Mauro Bergamasco? Does he have a club?

I'll try:
15: Andrea Masi (and then, maybe in 2013, Ruggero Trevisan)
14: Giulio Toniolatti
13: Tommaso Benvenuti
12: Alberto Sgarbi
11: Mirco Bergamasco
10 Luke McLean
9: Semenzato or Gori
8: Sergio Parisse (even if I'd prefer Zanni)
7: Paul Derbyshire
6: Robert Barbieri
5: Joshua Furno
4: Quintin Geldenhuys
3:...(Leso, from Petrarca...?)
2: Leonardo Ghiraldini and Tommaso D'Apice
1: Lorenzo Cittadini

The tenure of Nick Mallet was not brilliant.
The game with Ireland proved that Italy is no any nearer to them, and, unless Ireland will undergo a major overhaul, will stay far for a while.
Mallet failed to develop a decent fly-half and he put all his eggs in Gower's basket, who turned to be just a decent organiser of the defensive net. Brunel should choose among Burton, Tebaldi and McLean as fly-half. Parisse's captaincy concerns me a lot, as Sergio is no doubt skillful, but loses his temper too often. Some bad decision from him caused the loss with Ireland in the 6N's game.
It is also time to get rid of some of the old horses in the back department (Canale, Mi Bergamasco and go with fresher guys).
No worries from the forward department, some young and more mobile props are arriving.
Anyone willing to drop Brunel's expected XV?
