Didnt realise it was off season when he was on holiday ,and have to regognise your comment on different countries disaplinary systems. The QC burgulary incident springs to mind quite readily on that point. But contrast Guilfords case with D.Armitages very simlar in every point except it wasnt an OAP and no punches thrown i think.D.Armitages international career is over for the foreseeable future ,no way in hell he was going to get called up to tour despite his good form recently.or be in the Aurtum tests As i said he is a very lucky boy imo

melkdave - he did receive a ban; the police in the country (Cook Islands, not NZ) did not lay any charges, a limit to what NZRU could do on an incident off-season and accusations based on hearsay ie nothing proven.
I admit I am wrong (it happens) I thought ZG would be on a blacklist all this year, and also thought that would have been fair - but that is only based on what I read, and we can't always believe the media! Regardless of that suspension I'm sure NZRU mgmt would have been less than impressed by his behaviour; his non-selection in the original squad was likely quite a reminder for him; even now he is only in the training squad which gets cut to the playing squad.
Pointless comparisons with other country's disciplinary measures - they are exactly that - in another country; this was not an IRB/international matter. A few incidences of poor behaviour being 'forgiven' in recent times.

While theres no denying his in form .I do feel his been a tad lucky given his well known personnal problems with drink ect.He makes the problems with NH players seem very trival in comparision .I mean he actually punched an OAP iirc in a bar ,just how bad do you have to be to be dropped in NZ.One things for sure he wouldnt be in the England squad given that behaviouror i feel .or any NH squad
