What is an absolute disgrace, it is the players attitude. It started under Ashton's reign when the likes of Dellagio thought they were better equipped to manage /train a side than an experienced Manager such as Ashton. This is without doubt where it started. We have the likes of Ashton contiuing to swan dive when he scores a try in direct conflict with the managers wishes! There is no room for players such as Dellagio and Ashton who think they are bigger than the game itself and consequently bigger and more important than the manager/coach! We should start by getting this message over to the players, it is a great honour to represnt one's country and they must toe the line if they want to contribute!

@Wallaroo have no fear we all realise that you had far more important family matters to worry about than the RWC. I hope all is well on the family scene and your boy is on the mend. Thanks for your wishes and seeing your congratulations reminds me what the Anzac spirit is all about and that it is not dead. Who had access to all 3 reports? Who escapes criticism in any of the extracts (so far) published? There's your source, I'd say: someone in a back-office position trying to muddy the waters for when/ if they come under the same scrutiny as the players & coaching/ support staff - or trying to prevent that scrutiny in the first place "haven't we had enough finger-pointing already?" etc.

I don't think that looking for who leaked the information is actually the wrong focus, as rugby_rockstar, olepete and exige suggest. The comments and remarks, however inappropriate they may seem, were meant to be kept confidential. The fact that they were leaked is a massive breach of trust and does need to be investigated.
I have just posted on a similar thread (the Moody one), that I am particularly concerned that we haven't seen the whole report. Why not? What's missing? What was the context of the remarks? On that point, I certainly agree that the remarks should be investigated.
But I really do believe that they should have been kept confidential and used as anonomised feedback for everyone. How can people trust that this won't happen again?
I don't know whether Hopley is biased, but he's certainly on the players' side - he is the Top Dog at the RPA after-all. But I also think he's a fair man and and honest one. I'm confident that he would be one of the first to admonish players if necessary.
I'm still not convinced by the teflon-coated Squeaky who, once again, has managed to avoid any critisism. Did no-one say a single negative thing about him, or was that just missed out of the edited version of the report we've had access to? I don't know, perhaps I'm too harsh on Rob Andrew, as he's certainly been a stalwart of English Rugby for many years. But I'm not convinced that he hasn't sold his soul to the Dark Side...

@chancer the problem is not in the protection of egos but in the fact that the information was provided in confidence.
The whole point of the exercise was to allow individuals to speak with candour, safe in the knowledge that there would be no harm to careers or team relationships. If that confidence is breached, not only will it damage relationships within a set-up (I have no doubt that some of the comments will be recognised by their subject as having been said before and by whom) but it will mean that such interviews will be impossible to rely on again.
@exige - the leak looks likely to have been from someone in the senior hierarchy, if discovered that individual will be down the road very quickly. One step toward "putting things right"

It all must be true as the RFU haven't denied any of it. As many have said before me the players were in experienced over paid spoilt brats, accept for the older guard who were there for crac.

Hopley is a man of integrity who appears to have the interests of English rugby at heart. Maybe there is a place for him in the RFU heirarchy. He seems a smart man.

No, in fact I think the times shouild name the players involved so they NEVER represent our country again! they have spat in the face of every english rugby fan and then swaggered away LOADED WITH CASH! Damian hopley is biased and trying to deflect us from the truth. In this case he's basically aping Joseph Goebbels. There's no positive spin here.Name names! things will not improve while you have leaches like this in the England rugby team.

I have not read the article, but have any of the comments been linked to a specific player? If not I don't see the problem, there has been too much kept secret about the machinations within the RFU. lets have it all out in the open.

Hear-Hear. Whoever decided to leak this is going to get a massive surprise at the backlash. It's so ham fisted as well as I have yet to see a quote from the players criticising the RFU. Does this mean they have nothing bad to say (doubt it), they weren't asked (certainly possible) or the answers haven't been leaked (almost certain).
