Most overrated player in the game. Has not done a thing for years. As a Brumbies fan, I can truly say his time at our great club was disgraceful.
The best move the Brumbies made was to get rid of him. He then goes to the Waratahs, and where are they now. Battling for the wooden spoon.
He will probably go down in history as the worst Wallabies captain ever.

Great player? When he plays. And that is not very often. Leinster ran him into the ground continuously playing him injured and he hasn't been the same since. If he plays any games at Kobe they will very lucky. Maybe they should have asked the Brumbies and Waratahs about the relative merits of signing him?

Well cant blame him for wahting to cash in ,and earn some money. Its fairly obvious he wont be featuring anytime soon for Australia ,as Higginbottom looks the future there ,

I think he would have been the ideal sort of player to help bring younger guys through and help them learn the ropes and tricks of the trade. Maybe move into a coaching support role. Overall a loss to Oz rugby IMO.

I have got to agree with clutchplate, the European style of rugby suited Elsom and his time at Leinster were happy days!
I often wonder what players do in Japan. I have been in Japan on a number of occasions and my friends are unaware of the fact that rugby is played in their country - sumo, baseball and soccer, yes, rugby no. I did see a rugby pitch at a university in Tokyo and had to explain to my colleagues what it was all about the game. They listened patiently and in disbelief when I described the scrum!
Does Japanese rugby feature on TV anywhere?

think he is somewhat of a journeyman...great, great player, but seems to find it hard to settle for long periods at a club...even his two years in Japan will be puntuated by stints in France...pity, as I think he is the kind of player you could build your team around...
