Ross Ford: Suffered facial lacerations

Scotland hooker Ross Ford is expected to be fit for Scotland's next Six Nations clash with Wales on Saturday March 9.

Ford sustained a facial injury, which needed "multiple" stitches, during Scotland's 12-8 victory over Ireland on Sunday.

But Scotland team doctor James Robson is optimistic he will be ready to face Wales at Murrayfield.

"Fordy suffered severe facial lacerations, we believe as a result of a collision or collisions," he said.

"Ross was treated at Murrayfield, then one of our match-day doctors, Gerry Haggerty, took him to St John's Hospital in Livingston, where he was cared for by one of their plastic surgery specialists.

"He received multiple stitches to the wound and was able to return to the team hotel last night (Sunday).

"Our expectation is that with ongoing good care and attention to the wound, Ross should be available for consideration for the Scotland v Wales game.

"Despite the rigours of the Test match, the rest of the squad appears in rude health today (Monday). As usual, they will continue to be medically monitored over the next few days."

@jaycee_111 - agree, but I would certainly make changes at 10. Not criticising Jackson because he does little wrong but there isn't much creativity. May be down to the tactics as you say but why have a 10 who doesn't take pots at goal and has his 9 relieve him of kicking from hand? What's he there to do, tackle? Well, he has to given the kick-it-away approach, fortunately he does it well. Weir is meant to be less creative than Jackson but he orchestrated the thrashing of the Saxons last year and kicks well from hand and the tee.

Nasty for Ross Ford, he's the pretty boy of the team. Hope he recovers well because he's coming back to his best.

Scotland definately have the edge in the lineout, and the lineout afternath.

Not legal a lot of it,but it is if the ref doesn't penalise it! If you get away with it, down to the officials.

I had to smile on Sunday when Ireland got a PK for the scottish flanker neck tackling one of them.

Phillip Matthews was incensed, when Ireland throttle players in the choke all the time!

Ask Mike Phillips!

Agree, let's have some fine weather Rugby!

Scotland need to change tactics not players. The 'kick the ball to the oppossion and score on their mistakes' trick has worked with two teams that did not have a backline that could score tries on the day. I have a horrible feeling inviting the Welsh backline to have 80% possesion may result in the same scoreline as Twickenham where that tactic failed miserably against a team who could string a few passes together and knew how to score when they broke the line.

Thought he had an excellent game on Sunday. Powerful in the tight and loose.

To be honest i wouldnt change any of the team atm.Except maybe having A.Dunbar at 13 for S.Lamont.That means E.Murray coming back on the bench G.Cross did realy well last game and imo, deserves to continue,if he struggles well then Murray is there Hard to say ,which pack has an edge for next match to be honest, before the Italy game ,i would have said Scotland ,but Wales demolished the italian scrum .Lineout i feel Scotland may have a slight edge ,even if AWJ starts backrow fairly even.Wales may just edge it in the backs ,but not by much .Think Laidlaw is better than Phillips atm,but Biggar is alot better than Jackson imo.Going to be tight, and hoping this time its not decided by yellow cards like last year..Good weather hopefully and good rugby for us fans to watch.Getting fedup of continous rain and the cold lol.
